Piper Companies is seeking a Biomedical Research Scientist/Engineer with expertise in genetics or neuroscience to serve as a Scientific Engineering Technical Advisor (SETA) to support an ARPA-H Program Manager and work in our Remote office.
This is a remote based opportunity will be temp to perm. There is some travel expected within the US.

Duties include:
- Assist, support and provide advice to the Program Manager to further the development and progress of new and existing programs.
- Conduct thorough technical scientific evaluation of the current R&D landscape to identify gaps in research portfolios and address critical needs that are aligned with the ARPA-H mission.
- Monitor and track performers progress toward established metrics.
- Read and digest complex information and develop team and executive level briefings for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Use your strong logical and critical thinking skills to critically review scientific and technical data.
- Integrate into an existing team to support current ARPA-H efforts and operate independently and in a group environment in support of technical R&D efforts.
- Perform basic administrative tasks such as collecting, sorting, analyzing, and writing Internal programmatic reports/briefings on relevant topics in a health-related field.
- Some CONUS travel is expected (~10-20%) as needed.
Technical Skills Requirements:
- Candidates should have an MD, PhD or MD/PhD degree, Physician-Scientist, Physician, Scientist or Bioengineer, or Computational Scientist or equivalent educational or experience levels from previous academic, industry, and/or government scientific positions.
- Candidates must have a minimum of seven (7) years hands-on experience in at least three of the following or related fields in one of the following two general categories:
- Category One: Genetics, genetic medicines development, translational medicine, clinical medicine, clinical trials, rare diseases, patient advocacy, regenerative medicine, tissue engineering, AI development, iPS cell technology;
- Category Two: Brain plasticity, brain-computer interfaces, attention, learning, computational models, neuroscience, neurobiology, neurodevelopment, neuroanatomy, or psychedelic-assisted therapies, mental health, anxiety, depression, or post-traumatic stress disorders.
- Extraordinary oral and written communication skills are required.
- Highly experienced and facile with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel, including an ability to create impactful storytelling narrative PPT slides on the fly in high-pressure environments on urgent deadlines.
- Must be able to obtain a federal government Public Trust clearance.
Compensation:
- Salary Range: $125,000-$175,000
- Benefits : Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, PTO, Sick Leave if required by law, and Holidays
