RF Engineering Technician

Amentum is seeking to fill a critical opening for a RF Engineering Technician to join our Dahlgren, VA team in support of the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) Electromagnetic Effects Division.

RF Engineering Technician Responsibilities Include:

• Operating and maintaining equipment necessary to support conduct of Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3)
• Testing/certification of DoD and non-DoD developmental and operational weapon and electronic systems. The purpose of this testing is to
• Determining if the system under evaluation meets E3 design specifications and/or assess its ability to function in its intended operational electromagnetic environment from both a safety and reliability standpoint.
• Travel is involved as much as 10% of time. Selectee will have direct customer interface and communication and will work together as a Team for a wide variety of test events.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Two (2) years E3 specialized technical experience in EMC, EMV, or HERO testing.
• One (1) year experience in each of the follow areas: using anechoic chamber, reverberation chamber, or ground plane test facilities to conduct E3 testing; knowledge of MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD-464 requirements; Fabrication, integration, and setup of E3 laboratories and test beds; High voltage systems.
• Performing RF measurements using power meters, spectrum analyzers, and computer software and the operation and maintenance of high-power Radio Frequency (RF) transmitters which shall include Traveling Wave Tubes (TWTs), magnetrons, and state of the art solid state amplifiers
• Ability to read and understand antenna schematics and drawings.
• Demonstrated specialized experience in instrumentation and measurement systems required to conduct EMC, EMV, or HERO testing
• Must have an Active SECRET US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a SECRET Clearance.
• Vocational/technical training beyond high school
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
• On the job mentoring is provided.
