Reporting to the Program Manager, the Electrical / Mechanical Engineer is responsible for providing project management support, including presentation material, project management plans and technical reports, financial tracking, and technical and programmatic assessments to a Navy customer. This is a contingent position expected to be located in Newport, RI.

What You'll Do
  • Provide Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) differences between multiple technological solutions to a technical challenge using sources including technical publications, university research, conference attendance, and independent historical research.
  • Prepare Risk Assessments based on technical and programmatic documentation. This documentation includes test plans, status and final reports, as well as site visits, facility tours, and program reviews.
  • Develop Plan of Actions and Milestones (POA&M) and assessment plans.
  • Provide technology assessments to identify technology maturation risks and opportunities.
  • Develop data and graphics presentation material for use by Government AIST TTA personnel for project briefings.
  • Prepare project management plan documentation and technical reports on specific program research and development findings.
  • Generate financial tracking data reports, including planned versus actual expenditure reports, budget calculations, and funding usage projections.
  • Update electronic storage archive drive with program and subprogram technical data products.
  • Schedule and attend technical and program reviews, briefings, and meetings.
  • Provide high accuracy and continuous Time Space Position Information (TSPI) for high speed/high dynamic and GPS degraded environments.
  • Work with enhanced performance sensors that meet emergent Test and Evaluation (T&E) needs.
  • Work with improved energy and power density systems for T&E.
  • Perform advanced data acquisition utilizing microtechnology and process components designed for embedding within.
  • Bid and proposal support if requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

  • An active secret clearance is required to be considered for this position.
  • Four-year technical degree in electrical engineering (ABET accredited), or a four-year technical degree in science, math, or physics.
  • Five (5) or more years of technical experience utilizing Time Space Position Information (TSPI), Advanced Sensors, Advanced Energy and Power Systems, or Microtechnology.
  • Functional experience with required software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and time management skills.
  • Must possess basic computer literacy and data entry skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment.
  • Must be able to remain seated in a stationary position 50% of the time. Must also be able to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking.
  • The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, or recurring and considerable walking, stooping, bending, crouching, and climbing such as performing regular shop activities, inspections, or to observe and study operations in an industrial or comparable work area or on-board submarines and in weapon facilities
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in engineering, science, math, or physics.
  • Ten (10) or more years of technical experience supporting Test and Evaluation (T&E) or Science and Technology (S&T) programs.
  • Knowledge and experience gained from supporting Department of Defense T&E and S&T projects.
  • Experience using Microsoft Visio and Project.
