Program Overview

About The Role

Peraton is seeking an accomplished Information Technology (IT) professional to join our NASA Near Earth Network (NEN) IT Security Team. The successful candidate will be experienced with managing cybersecurity risk as an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO), Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE), or a Systems Security Plan (SSP) and supporting documentation.

As prime contractor on the Peraton Space Exploration Networks Services and Evolution (SENSE) contract, Peraton is responsible for the operation, maintenance, sustainment, and systems engineering of NASA's worldwide satellite communication networks. Join the SENSE team to support NASA programs that integrate with state-of-the-art RF satellite communications systems and technologies. In this position, you will become part of NASA's return to the moon, support new earth and space science missions, and launch vehicles. You will be an integral part of a world class team that ensures NASA space-ground communications are reliable and meet mission requirements.

This position will allow for a hybrid schedule but will require on-site work. The selected candidate must be local to either the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD or the Wallops Flight Facility in Wallops Island, VA site and be able to travel to other NASA locations as needed.

This position will be responsible for the following:
  • Reviewing system security plan.
  • Writing and refining control implementation details.
  • Performing internal security control compliance audits.
  • Reviewing and editing supporting IT security documents.
  • Participating in IT Security calls and meetings.
  • Developing new best practices plans and procedures.
  • Reviewing existing policies, plans, and procedures and advising areas of improvement and efficiency.
  • Preparing and reporting of risk data and statistics.

Qualifications

Required Experience:
  • Education/Experience: degree in in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or other related technical discipline and relevant experience is required as follows: 10 years' experience with BS/BA; 7 years' experience with MS/MA; 12+ years' experience with AA/AS degree.
  • Experience with designing, building, installing, and testing cybersecurity systems
  • Demonstrated ability to create technical documents and deliver presentations clearly and concisely
  • Understanding of NIST 800-53A and NPR 2810.1A security controls
  • Familiarity with Splunk, RedSeal, and other security software packages
  • Security clearance: the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance, which requires US citizenship.

Desired Experience:
  • Prior experience working with NASA programs and projects; preferred experience with NASA Space Relay (SR) and Direct to Earth (DTE) Networks
  • Have a working, fundamental knowledge of networking and system administration concepts
  • Ability to work well individually and in a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to work under challenging timelines with ambiguity
  • Experience with generating and interpreting detailed technical drawings in Visio or AutoCAD
  • An active Secret clearance.

SCA / Union / Intern Rate or Range

Details

Target Salary Range: $80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
