Your Main Objectives:
- Maintain Disorientation Research Device (DRD) Control Room, fabrication shop and engineering space cleanliness. Daily cleaning, involving wiping down, vacuum, sweep, mop, manage tacky mats for engineering, general ETSS space and laboratory research device spaces.
- Assist with engineering, fabrication shop, and research equipment (DRD) space organization and storage management efforts. Maintain orderly shop and laboratory environments. (DAILY)
- Tool control, organization, and management. (DAILY)
- Assist with general building maintenance activities.
- Photo document fabrication efforts for fabrication projects
- Assist with identification and disposal of excess property for Defense Reutilization and Marketing Office (DRMO)
- Assist with custom build activities as required- fabrication, testing, delivery, installation, and disposal.
- Assist with front line customer service to science staff for minor repair, fabrication, assembly, installation of purchased equipment to lab facilities.
- Escort and monitor contract visitor building workers, vendors, and service technicians.
- Complete training on and conduct preventative and corrective maintenance of fabrication shop equipment.
- Obtain quotes and submit purchase orders for supplies, repair parts and tools needed for maintenance and fabrication efforts.
- Assist with research equipment life cycle management. Spares, equipment and supplies inventory management and test equipment calibration.
- Communicate building/facility issues to the Facilities Manager and provide on scene support to facilities emergencies.
- Complete training for Navy Crane operator/rigger.
- DRD device and space cleaning, after training is complete (Daily)
- Manage Paint Booth and HAZMAT storage (clean, organize, inventory)
- Assist with compressed gas bottle management (inventory, transport, change out in labs, charging, etc.)
- Operate forklift, High reach and overhead crane, and rigging operations.
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance support for specialized research equipment and devices.
- Complete specialty training - On the job training (OJT) for job qualifications(JQR) for DRD Maintainer
- Once JQR qualified, assist with execution of DRD PMR (Skill Level 1/2 tasks) to include documentation tracking (daily, weekly, monthly using assigned paper log)
- Document corrective maintenance actions in the DRD maintenance logbook (paper). Transfer DRD maintenance log from paper to electronic format and update electronic log files for documentation of any DRD/device maintenance actions
What Sets You Apart:
- 2 or more years of relevant experience. No degree required or equivalent.
- Task oriented and able to respond independently to and systematically accomplish planned maintenance requirements execution, troubleshooting and repair of research devices, machine shop systems and other systems of interest with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work independently but also in teams to accomplish complex tasks.
- Experienced in using basic software such as Adobe, MS Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to bend, lift, climb, work in confined space under physically demanding conditions.
- Driver’s license
- Normal vision, hearing – must obtain Occupational Health certification for HAZMAT
- Ability to obtain and maintain Secret Clearance, priority may be given to those who already have this clearance
- Due to US Government requirements, US Citizenship is necessary
You Might Also Have:
- Experience in a military, medical, or engineering research environment is highly desired.
- Forklift, bridge crane, and other manned lift use a plus.
