As a DevOps/Systems Engineer, your primary focus will be on process automation within the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Operating System (OS) environment. This role emphasizes proficiency in configuration management tools like Puppet and Ansible, supported by scripting languages such as Bash, Python, and Ruby to optimize the tool's functionality. You'll also be responsible for developing and maintaining Puppet modules, manifests, and Hiera data to streamline configuration. Experience with version control management using Git and GitLab is essential for efficient collaboration and code management. Additionally, familiarity with infrastructure hardware and networking, along with experience in VMware and KVM virtualization technologies, will further enhance your capabilities in this role.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Analyze user needs, concept of operations, and architectures to develop system requirements.
  • Analyze system requirements, evaluate alternative designs, and conduct feasibility studies.
  • Develop technical documentation.
  • Guide system development and planning and prepare system engineering management plans and system integration and test plans.
  • Interact with the Government regarding problems, issues or conflicts.
  • Support verification and monitor the technical quality.


Minimum Q ualifications/Capabilities:
  • Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience or 5 years of total experience .
  • Experience with:
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux *
    • Puppet/Ansible *
    • Bash/Python/Ruby *
    • Git/GitLab *
    • RPM Packaging (spec)
    • VMware/KVM
    • Infrastructure/Hardware Knowledge
    • Networking
    • Docker/Podman
    • Structured data such as JSON/YAML/XM


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Atlassian tool suite (e.g., Jira, Confluence)
  • Working within a software development environment
  • Agile methodology


Clearance Requirements:
  • No clearance required but must be willing to obtain the TS/SCI with Poly


Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 50% of the time.
  • Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as, the copy machine/fax machine/computer/printer.
