We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a crucial part of our research and development efforts, you will design highly complex electrical, electronic, and/or mechanical equipment, structures, components or portions of systems and modify existing designs to develop or improve performance and facilitate operations. Utilizes computer-aided design (CAD) applications and/or graphic design tools to generate layouts and designs equipment. Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposals. Coordinates design criteria with engineers, physicists, and other customers as appropriate.

We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team. Key Responsibilities:
- Perform design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of mechanical and electro-mechanical components, subsystems, and systems.
- Conduct analyses and/or tests related to new designs, methods, materials, or processes, complete required documentation, and provide recommendations.
- Evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate malfunctions.
- Install, operate, maintain, and repair equipment.
- Assemble units, enclosures, or systems by reading, updating, or following mechanical drawings, industry methods, or assembly instructions.
- Perform research and analysis on major projects to enhance technical and economic development of products and/or services.
- Assist with the design and development of mechanical kit TDPs and TDPs for rackmount electronics equipment, including assembly details, overall dimensions and weight, mechanical and electrical interfaces, material types, list of components, assembly instructions, fabrication details, label plate details, power requirements, cooling requirements, and electrical schematics.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and 2 years professional experience required; relevant academic projects or internships are beneficial.
- Experience with the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment, particularly in support of DoD Navigation projects.
- Demonstrated analytical and research skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.
Desired Skills:
- Five (5) years of professional experience in design, development, production, or testing of electronic and electro-mechanical equipment.
- Five (5) years of experience supporting DoD or Maritime - Position, Navigation and Timing (M-PNT) systems.
- Understanding of NIWC Atlantic M-PNT operations.
- Experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software such as Inventor or SolidWorks.
- Proven ability to identify, define, and solve complex technical problems within project schedule and funding limitations.
- Working knowledge of U.S. Navy drawing standards and ability to produce detailed connectivity drawings between systems.
- Experience with environmental qualification testing, including Electromagnetic Interference/Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMI/EMC) testing, vibration testing, mechanical shock testing, ingress protection testing, salt spray testing, sand and dust testing, and temperature and humidity testing.
- Professional experience with all phases of the engineering lifecycle.
