Information Assurance/Security Specialist II

This position requires an active Public Trust clearance or the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance to be considered.

As required by our governmental client, this position requires being a US Citizen.

Specializes in system security analysis and application within organizations/agencies. Assists system owners and ISSOs in developing C&A documentation for achieving ATO. Adheres to NIST or DoD IA Certification standards. Proficient in industry tools, concepts, and practices, ensuring compliance with established procedures and protocols.

Information Assurance/Security Specialist II Responsibilities Include:
  • Analyze and apply system security practices within an organization or agency.
  • Assist system owners and ISSOs in developing and writing Certification & Accreditation (C&A) documentation packages.
  • Support the process of obtaining Authority to Operate (ATO) for systems and environments.
  • Ensure compliance with NIST and/or DoD IA Certification and Accreditation Process standards.
  • Conduct security assessments, risk analyses, and gap analyses.
  • Utilize commonly used security tools and methodologies for system security evaluation.
  • Identify, document, and mitigate security vulnerabilities.
  • Provide recommendations for security controls and best practices.
  • Maintain and update security documentation to reflect current compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure security objectives are met.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


Information Assurance/Security Specialist II Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalency.
  • Four (4) years of progressive experience demonstrating the required proficiency.
  • Commercial (Baseline) Certificates: IAT III and IAM III: Commercial Certificates for DoD 8570.01-M certificate requirement, Associate level (professional preferred) certificate for supported technology.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for system security evaluation.
  • Proficiency in developing and writing Certification & Accreditation (C&A) documentation.
  • Knowledge of NIST and DoD IA Certification and Accreditation Process standards.
  • Experience with security assessment tools and methodologies.
  • Attention to detail and ability to identify security vulnerabilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for documentation and collaboration.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Adaptability to work with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working on documentation and analysis.
  • Strong visual and auditory abilities to assess security risks and communicate findings.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
