Junior Systems Engineer (PL)

We are seeking a Junior Systems Engineer to support a USAF contract at Hill AFB, Utah. The Junior Systems Engineer supports Operational Flight Program (OFP) software development and modifications by working with other team members (engineers, equipment specialists, Program Managers, etc.) in an Agile development environment.

Responsibilities

• Create and support system and sub-system design documentation for use by software engineers to modify existing or create new integrated software capabilities for the A-10C Thunderbolt II avionics, weapons, or pod interfaces or pilot/vehicle interfaces
• Resolve configuration issues by collecting data, reviewing for conflicts with other subsystems, supporting integration and planning of modifications, evaluating aircraft system information, and determining problem areas
• Design interface modifications and on-board software; analyze electrical and software interfaces; verify and validate on-aircraft designs.
• Prepare engineering studies, assemble data, coordinate with engineers, and support document finalization
• Control changes using the Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) process, ensure accomplishment of risk assessment/management, support the Change Control board (CCB), conduct data reviews of Watch Items (WITs) and Deficiency Report (DRs), and take action to resolve problems
• Support special research projects
• Assist in the implementation of Technical Orders (TOs) and technical data
• Perform lab qualification testing

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline
• Experience:3 years of relevant experience
• Clearance: Must possess an active Secret clearance
• Must be able to plan and prioritize personal tasking and be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Must be an independent thinker, capable of performing high quality work, both independently and with a team

Preferred Qualifications

• Able to create and support System and Sub-System Design Documentation for use by software engineers to include:
  • System/Sub-System Design Change Requests
  • Interface Control documentation
  • User Handbooks
  • User Interfaces
  • Requirements Specifications
• Professional experience in software development, which may include the following:

• Windows, Linux, Unix, Solaris, VMS, RTOS and/or other operating systems
• LabView, ADA, C, C++, .Net technology, Java, Fortran, Assembly, Jovial, Visual Basic, and/or other programming languages
• MIL-STD-1553B Bus Monitor functions and Communication
• A-10 avionics
• Experience \ Training in any of the following areas:
• Embedded Software Development
• Software Quality Assurance
• Writing/understanding C/C++ software languages
• Other software languages (e.g., Python, Ada)
• Analysis techniques (e.g. static code analysis, requirements analysis)
• DOD processes and standards
• Experience in an Agile/Scrum environment

Schedule

• Facilities are generally open 6am-6pm - you can work with your customer leadership to set hours
• You can flex time during the 2 week pay cycle - avoid using PTO for appointments
• You have the option to work a standard 5 days per week schedule or a 5/4/9 schedule which is sometimes referred to as a 9/80 schedule.
