Division: Launch and Missile Defense Systems, Space Systems

Position Overview: The Launch and Missile Defense Systems division within Space Systems is seeking a Systems Engineer – Algorithms with Linux environment and software development exposure to join the Template Kinematic Estimation Library (TKEL) team. Our domain provides rewarding work that contributes to the latest advancements in the missile defense industry. TKEL aims to provide a common and extensible mission data processing framework that accelerates new multi-int fusion programs.

Essential Functions:
• Develop, analyze, test, and implement extendable/reusable algorithms to improve state estimation and backend processes.
• Provide documentation for tracking algorithms, including observation models, propagation models, and filters/smoothers.
• Apply mathematics to perform data analysis and algorithm development for military applications.
• Develop and perform analysis of tracking and state estimation algorithms.
• Develop tools and prototypes using Modern C++ and Python.
• Track and resolve algorithm defects.
• Produce technical documentation as required.
• Collaborate on challenging and diverse assignments across all levels.

Basic Qualifications:
• Principal Engineer (Level 3): Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related experience, or 1 year with a PhD.
• Senior Principal Engineer (Level 4): Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of experience, or 4 years with a PhD.
• 5+ years of experience with algorithms in a Linux environment and software development exposure.
• 5+ years of experience with tool and prototype development using Modern C++ and Python.
• 5+ years of experience in applying mathematics for data analysis and algorithm development for military applications.
• Linux exposure and working knowledge of common utilities like grep, awk, cat, head, etc.
• 4 years of development experience in C/C++.
• Experience in algorithm design and state estimation.
• Data analysis skills, including population statistics and trend identification.
• Experience with numerical computing (numerical linear algebra, differential equations, optimization, and statistics).
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs.
• Active in-scope U.S. Government DoD issued Top Secret security clearance at the time of application, with the ability to obtain and maintain an SCI.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Strong statistical background and skills.
• Experience in tracking and prediction algorithms, simulation, and validation.
• Experience with multiple hypothesis tracking.
• Experience in the numerical implementation of motion filters.
• Familiarity with Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) and Electro-Optical Infrared (EOIR) sensors and simulations.
• Experience with containerization.

Work Environment: Located in Boulder, CO, the Launch and Missile Defense Systems division within Space Systems operates from 8 AM to 5 PM onsite.

Clearance Level: Top-Secret/SCI
· This position requires an active DoD Clearance (Secret, Top Secret, Top Secret/SCI) or the ability to be obtain an (Interim Secret, Interim Top Secret)
· Because an active or interim DoD clearance is required, U.S. Citizenship is required
