Overview
In the role of Fire Alarm Service Technician 3 implies a high level of expertise and proficiency in servicing fire alarm systems. This position involves leading complex service projects, complex fire alarm system programming, providing mentorship to junior technicians, and assuming a more autonomous role in inspecting, repairing, and maintaining fire alarm systems.
Responsibilities
• Lead and oversee comprehensive inspections, advanced testing, and in-depth troubleshooting of fire alarm systems to ensure optimal performance.
• Independently diagnose and resolve complex technical issues in fire alarm systems, including interconnected systems and networked fire alarm/mass notification systems.
• Manage and maintain detailed records of service activities, including system analyses, recommendations for improvements, and redline drawings for as-built preparation.
• Supervise and mentor junior technicians, providing guidance, training, and support in executing service tasks and ensuring quality service delivery.
• Participate in project planning, system design, and implementation efforts to enhance fire alarm system functionality and compliance with NFPA 72 and other applicable codes.
• Conduct site surveys for fire alarm system upgrades, develop bills of materials, labor projections, and schedules, and perform pre-testing and final acceptance testing with Fire Marshal.
• Collaborate with colleagues, building owners, and managers to deliver seamless service, address system deficiencies, and optimize performance.
• Stay informed about industry trends, technology advancements, and regulatory changes to uphold compliance and industry standards.
• Perform complex programming of various types of fire alarm systems and troubleshoot issues to maintain system functionality.
• Demonstrate a commitment to safety, quality service delivery, and customer satisfaction in all service activities.

Qualifications
Education/Certifications:
• Minimum of high school degree and eight years of related experience or two years technology degree and five years related experience.
• NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level II or pass NICET II exam within 90 days of employment.
Additional Requirements:
• Ability to obtain Secret clearance.
• Above average level of attention to detail and professional work ethic.

• Knowledge of NFPA 72 and OSHA Requirements
• Ability to function in a controlled, effective manner under stress.

Abilities:
- Lifts at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period of time.
- Relocates a 12 foot stepladder without assistance.
- Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders.
- Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
- Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
- May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
