Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Vessel Assessment Team (VAT) Marine Engineer to help support our current USMC contract out of Brisbane, Australia.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- The Marine Engineer / Naval Architect will report to the VAT Manager, focusing on the vessel's structural and propulsion performance. This expert will ensure that all design evaluations and recommendations align with the broader goals set by the Sponsors.
- Analyze the vessel's design and provide structural and performance feedback to the Sponsors.
- Present findings and potential improvements to the Sponsors for approval.
- Evaluate hull design, material strength, and structural integrity under various loads.
- Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to identify stress points, fatigue risks, and potential failure areas.
- Assess coatings, corrosion protection, and welding quality for long-term durability.
- Analyze ship stability characteristics in accordance with IMO and military standards.
- Evaluate trim, draft, and ballast system performance under various operational conditions.
- Assess auxiliary systems (electrical, HVAC, hydraulics, cooling, and power generation).
- Evaluate redundancy and resilience in propulsion and steering systems for military applications.
- Conduct Full Mission Profile (FMP) trials
- Document any engineering incidents, near misses with recommend corrective actions as well as traditional U.S. seakeeping to the Sponsors and the RMB.
- Provide input and/or create, and submit daily situation reports, and other requirements.
- Perform additional responsibilities and duties as required by the VAT Manager or SLV (STS) Project Manager.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related field and at least 5 years of experience with safety compliance in maritime or naval operations. Additional 2 years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree
- Expertise in naval architecture and marine engineering with experience in vessel trials.
- Experience in conducting Shore-to-shore and ship-to-shore operations with experience in vehicle tiedown restraint requirements.
- Familiarity with shipboard machinery, hull integrity, stability, and structural assessments.
- Familiarity with International Maritime Organization (IMO) Regulations.
- Familiarity with American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) / DNV / Lloyd's Register standards
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in marine systems Engineers, Ship Design or Offshore Engineering.
- Certified Maritime Assessor (CMA).
- Standard of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping (STCW) Basic Safety Training.
- Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) membership.
- Experience with Military & Commercial Vessel Assessments.
- Experience with Testing & Trials (Sea Trials, Shock Testing, Full Mission Profile Exercises).
Clearance Requirement:
- US Citizen with the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.
Physical Requirement:
- Requires the ability to work aboard vessel and ashore
