Corporate Real Estate is a small but effective team focused on developing and maintaining the physical infrastructure and supporting business processes to effectively enable MITRE's strategy. It manages three distinct campuses and multiple leased site locations accounting for over 2M square feet of useable office space. The organization is responsible for designing office communities, building labs and experimental environments to enable the innovation of our staff, creating secure facilities that satisfy the most demanding construction requirements, while ensuring the safety, useability, and cleanliness of all our spaces.
Roles & Responsibilities:
The Corporate Real Estate Operations Senior Manager is responsible for coordinating the management and execution of our entire real estate portfolio. This role includes overseeing, coordinating, and optimizing the day-to-day operations of MITRE's real estate organization. This role involves managing property management teams, implementing efficient processes, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.

- Operational Planning and Execution: Represents the director's vision in all CRE interests and engagements. Collaborate with senior management to set goals and develop guidelines for the use and development of our facilities. Analyze business requirements, identify growth opportunities, and ensure operational processes align with strategic objectives.
- Workflow Management and Streamlining: Develop and implement efficient processes across the organization to ensure smooth and effective operations. This involves identifying bottlenecks, optimizing workflows, and leveraging technology to enhance productivity. Lead the development of and maintain a master schedule that enables management oversight of key milestones and objectives across the portfolio of real estate projects.
- Lease Negotiation and Management: Works to ensure the efficient management of negotiations for new leases and renewals, ensuring favorable terms and compliance with organizational policies.
- Team Coordination: Coordinate activities between different teams within the organization. Foster collaboration and ensure alignment with MITRE's objectives, promoting a cohesive work environment and avoiding silos.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Partnership with stakeholders to ensure adherence to all regulations, including licensing, contracts, and property regulations - especially for special use spaces and facilities. Manage risks by maintaining proper insurance and handling legal issues to minimize potential liabilities.
- Budgeting and Cost Control: Oversee budgets related to real estate operations, tracking expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities. Ensure efficient use of financial resources with a focus on profitability.
- Vendor Management: Manage relationships with key contracted partners and various vendors, ensuring they meet contractual obligations and negotiating favorable terms to maximize value for the organization.
- Project Management: Work jointly with the CRE managers to oversee real estate projects, coordinating with internal teams and external vendors to ensure timely and budget-compliant completion.
- Facility Management: Ensure facilities are maintained to a high standard, providing a safe and productive environment for employees.
Basic Qualifications:
- Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 10 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 7 years' experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
- Proven experience in real estate operations or property management,
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective tenant and stakeholder relations.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to use data to drive decision-making.
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- This position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site.
- Active Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in property management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional financial management skills, including budgeting and financial analysis.
- Strong understanding of real estate laws, regulations, and industry trends.
- At least 5 years in a managerial role.
