Department Summary:

We are currently seeking a Senior Cleared Software Systems Engineer to join the Cross-cutting Urgent Innovation Cell (CUIC), an organization that is unique to MITRE because:

Roles & Responsibilities:
A Senior Cleared Software Systems Engineer is needed who possesses a strong programming capability . This position involves software engineering, database development, data analytics, and geospatial reasoning in classified environments. Successful candidate(s) will learn new techniques and approaches on-the-job, working in collaboration with other team members.

Basic Qualifications:

• Active Top Secret clearance.
• Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 3 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
• Typically requires a degree in computer science, data science, applied mathematics/statistics, operation research, artificial intelligence, or other physical science/engineering fields.
• 2+ years of experience working technical challenges.
• Must meet eligibility requirements for TS/SCI (Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation).
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and capable of working in a cross-functional environment that includes scientists, data analysts, technical software developers, and intelligence analysts.
• Experience with software engineering concepts such as development, debugging, git, code reviews, continuous integration, and testing.
• Experience developing in python.
• Experience developing in linux/unix operating systems.
• Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• This position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Active TS/SCI clearance.
• Master's degree in computer science, data science, applied mathematics/statistics, operation research, artificial intelligence, or other physical science/engineering fields.
• Experience cleaning and wrangling real-world messy data.
• Data analysis around business intelligence, supply chain, economics, cyber, and/or critical infrastructure topics.
• Domain knowledge of machine learning and computer vision techniques for classification, detection, key attribute extraction, segmentation, or activity detection.
• Proficiency with data science stack(s) within python such as Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-Learn, etc
• Experience developing applications with Elasticsearch or graph databases like Neo4j
• Proficiency querying, designing, and optimizing relational database tools such as PostgreSQL.
• Experience with container technologies (e.g. Docker, Singularity) and container orchestration tools (e.g. Kubernetes, OpenShift).
• Prior experience deploying to cloud infrastructure such as Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS)
