Software Quality & Systems Engineer

Core4ce is seeking a Software Quality & Systems Engineer to support cutting-edge research scientists by ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of mission-critical software systems. This role involves applying Agile software development practices, performing verification and validation, and overseeing software quality assurance processes in both cloud-based and classified environments.

The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in software inspection, testing, and system architecture, as well as experience with NGA's systems, networks, and processes.

Responsibilities

• Develop, modify, and apply software quality standards, operating methods, and system procedures.
• Implement and oversee software testing, verification, and validation processes to ensure compliance with reliability and performance standards.
• Apply Agile software development methodologies and best practices in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
• Ensure project and process control documentation align with contract, process, and security requirements.
• Conduct software design and change specification reviews against contractual and regulatory requirements.
• Perform acceptance testing on software deliveries:
• Receive software from GitLab or Amazon S3 (command-line interface (CLI) familiarity).
• Install and resolve dependencies in Amazon EC2 environments (Gsproto/XC, Linux, containers, Python).
• Run test cases on software deliveries using Linux shell scripting and provided datasets.
• Prepare summary reports on test results (no analysis required).
• Support classified network testing, including:
• Compile, submit, and facilitate SWAP requests for delivered code.
• Work with DTO teams to transfer data to classified networks (C2S environments).
• Deploy, test, and validate software within classified cloud environments.
• Maintain deployed cloud instances, including:
• Monitoring system performance and resolving technical issues.
• Applying security patches, system updates, and responding to cloud environment inquiries.
• Advise on system architecture, design, and deployment strategies to ensure scalability, performance, and security.
• Evaluate and recommend system improvements, tools, and technologies based on industry best practices and emerging trends.

Requirements

• TS/SCI Clearance Required (No exceptions).
• 13+ years of experience and a MA/MS degree, OR 15+ years of experience with a BA/BS degree in a relevant discipline.
• Familiarity with NGA's systems, networks, and processes a plus.
• Strong expertise in software quality assurance, verification, and validation.
• Proficiency in Agile software development and ability to apply Agile methodologies in testing.
• Experience with cloud computing environments, including Amazon EC2, S3, and classified cloud equivalents (C2S, SC2S).
• Linux and command-line interface (CLI) experience for software deployment and testing.
• Familiarity with GitLab for software delivery and management.
• Ability to install, test, and troubleshoot dependencies in containerized environments.
• Experience evaluating system performance, availability, and security for mission-critical applications.
• Strong ability to interface with program managers, research scientists, and engineers to support mission success.
