Position Overview:
The Communications Data Analyst plays a critical role in evaluating the effectiveness of AFWERX’s strategic communications, outreach, and engagement efforts. This position is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to measure campaign performance, audience engagement, and return on investment (ROI). The insights provided will help shape data-driven communication strategies that improve AFWERX’s ability to reach and engage stakeholders.
The ideal candidate is highly skilled in data analytics, visualization, and storytelling, with the ability to translate complex datasets into clear, actionable recommendations for leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
• Data Collection & Analysis:
◦ Develop and maintain metrics dashboards to track communication performance across multiple platforms (digital, social media, email, events, and web).
◦ Establish and manage a database to track stakeholder engagement across all communication channels (e.g., CRM or similar tools).
◦ Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure campaign effectiveness, audience engagement, and ROI.
◦ Identify trends and insights from data to optimize communication strategies and improve outreach efforts.
• Research & Reporting:
◦ Conduct surveys, focus groups, and other audience research to assess stakeholder perceptions and information needs.
◦ Create detailed reports and data visualizations to present findings and insights to leadership and stakeholders.
◦ Support the Strategic Communications team in refining data-driven messaging and campaign strategies.
• Strategy & Continuous Improvement:
◦ Collaborate with team members to establish KPIs and benchmarks for various communication initiatives.
◦ Stay up to date with emerging trends in data analytics, digital marketing, and communication technologies to continuously improve strategies.
◦ Ensure data integrity, compliance, and security in alignment with relevant policies and regulations.
Qualifications & Skills Required:
• Education:
◦ Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, statistics, communications, marketing, or a related field.
◦ Preferred: Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Experience:
◦ 3+ years of experience in data analytics, preferably in a communications, marketing, or public relations environment.
◦ Experience with survey design, audience research, and statistical analysis.
◦ Familiarity with government, military, or defense-related communications is a plus.
• Technical Skills:
◦ CompTIA Security+ certification required to ensure understanding of security best practices in data handling and analysis.
◦ Proficiency in Google Analytics, Tableau, Power BI, or similar data visualization and analytics tools.
◦ Strong understanding of digital marketing metrics, SEO, social media analytics, and web traffic analysis.
◦ Ability to extract and interpret data from various platforms (social media, email marketing, CRM systems, event tracking, etc.).
◦ Exceptional data visualization and storytelling skills to communicate insights effectively to non-technical audiences.
• Soft Skills:
◦ Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
◦ Excellent communication and presentation skills.
◦ High attention to detail and strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Work Environment & Additional Requirements:
• Remote Position: Must be able to work effectively in a highly dispersed remote team.
• Security Clearance: Must hold or be eligible for a Secret clearance.
