Security Administration Specialist
Customer: AFRL/RGOS

Position Overview:
The Security Administration Specialist will provide a broad range of administrative, security management, Information Protection (IP), and Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP) support to the AFRL/RGOS. This role includes participation in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), analyzing problems, defining solutions, and providing recommendations for various security and personnel-related tasks. The Security Administration Specialist will assist with maintaining secure facilities, handling classified information, and ensuring compliance with US government regulations related to national security and foreign nationals.
Key Responsibilities:
• Security Management & Compliance:
◦ Assist with S&T Protection Plans, identifying and validating security requirements, and ensuring compliance with ITAR, the Arms Export Control Act, and related regulations.
◦ Provide administrative and technical support to the Chief of Information Protection, ensuring security program requirements are integrated into all AFRL programs.
◦ Support the development and coordination of security guidance for distribution to USG/industry teams.
• Classified Information Handling & Security Oversight:
◦ Secure classified information and ensure compliance with security classification/declassification guidelines.
◦ Monitor security incidents and violations, coordinating investigations as necessary.
◦ Assist in preparing and reviewing security classification/declassification guides for AFRL programs involving classified information.
• Personnel & Visitor Security:
◦ Provide personnel security support, including tracking background investigations and processing security clearance actions through DISS.
◦ Assist with the processing of personnel security paperwork, including fingerprinting, visit requests, and other documentation.
◦ Escort personnel visiting facilities as required and maintain personnel visit records.
• Program Support & Documentation:
◦ Develop and prepare various program security-related documentation, including reports, briefings, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
◦ Maintain records and databases for personnel security, classified materials, and program reference files.
◦ Provide technical support for safeguarding classified materials, responding to security inquiries, and ensuring compliance with security policies.
• Security Training & Inspections:
◦ Assist in the planning and administration of security education programs and provide annual briefings to ensure staff awareness of security protocols.
◦ Execute and manage the annual security self-inspection program to evaluate the effectiveness of security procedures.
◦ Support Inspector General (IG) inspections and meetings, organizing data, preparing reports, and taking meeting minutes.
• Physical, Personnel & Operational Security:
◦ Oversee all aspects of information, physical, personnel, and operational security within AFRL programs.
◦ Assist the Operations Security Manager in the development and maintenance of the operations security program.
◦ Ensure compliance with applicable DoD, USAF, and AFMC security directives, including NISPOM, NISPOM Supplement, and other regulations.
Qualifications & Skills Required:
• Education & Experience:
◦ Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Information Technology, or related field (preferred).
◦ At least 3 years of experience in security administration, personnel security, or related field.
◦ CompTIA Security+ Certificate
• Security & Compliance Knowledge:
◦ Familiarity with US State Department’s ITAR, Arms Export Control Act, and Defense Trade Security Initiatives.
◦ Knowledge of security regulations and guidelines, including NISPOM, NISPOM Supplement, and Joint Air Force-Army-Navy Manuals.
• Administrative & Communication Skills:
◦ Strong organizational skills, with experience in maintaining databases and preparing security-related documentation.
◦ Ability to communicate effectively and provide clear guidance on security-related matters to internal and external teams.
• Soft Skills & Work Environment:
◦ Excellent attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
◦ Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to changing security needs.
◦ Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Travel Requirements:
• Travel may be required based on project needs.
• Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
