The National Systems Group serves as the technical advisor to the Intelligence Community and its mission partners involved in the collection and distribution of national and tactical intelligence, including electronics programs, advanced technologies, ground and communications, imagery programs, and systems engineering and launch.

We are looking for a Mission Utility Modeling & Simulation Engineering Leader(Senior Project Leader - Modeling & Simulation and Signal & Image Process Engineering) to provide on-site technical support for a major systems acquisition program within the Imagery Programs Division which supports the NRO GEOINT Directorate. This innovative program operates via a collaborative Integrated Product Team (IPT) structure, that employs agile processes to drive decision making down to the lowest levels while encouraging innovative ideas to deliver new capabilities faster.

This full time position requires 100% on site work in Chantilly, VA

What You'll Be Doing
  • Applies knowledge of systems modeling, simulation, and image processing to lead performance analysis and mission utility assessments to measure and improve mission effectiveness.
  • Lead the Prototype Scheduler effort to gain understanding and influence scheduler behaviors and orchestrate studies to measure scheduler performance as a function of CONOPS, collection strategies and enterprise decisions.
  • Monitor operational trending and identify opportunities to enhance/increase mission utility. Propose experimentation to expand adoption and to further understand and predict product performance
  • Bring the best of Aerospace's engineering matrix to bear in support of the portfolio and oversee all efforts in your area of responsibility
  • Act as a senior mentor to team members, providing orientation, technical guidance, and development insight.


What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements for the Senior Project Leader - Modeling & Simulation and Signal & Image Process Engineering
  • Bachelor's in engineering, computer science, or other relevant technical field
  • Solid knowledge of systems modeling, simulation, and image processing to lead performance analysis and mission utility assessments
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
  • Experience building and leading customer and technical teams
  • This position requires a current and active TS/SCI security clearance and polygraph, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
  • Ability to travel approximately one week every 3 months

  • An advanced degree in Engineering/Science or equivalent
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Satellite Imagery Processing
    • Collection & sensor modeling
    • GEOINT system tasking and/or Scheduling
    • Algorithm development for target detection and tracking
    • System characterization planning and execution
  • Experience working with the NRO and/or NGA Ground architectures
  • Experience in mission control or mission processing systems for space systems
  • Experience evolving & delivering end-to-end mission capabilities
