IT Concepts is looking for an experienced Data Scientist to support the Social Security Administration. In this role, the Data Scientist will drive impactful decision-making through advanced data analysis and machine learning. This will apply your expertise in statistical analysis, data visualization, and big data tools to tackle complex challenges and enhance operational efficiency. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will leverage your creativity and analytical rigor to transform data into actionable insights, presenting your findings to senior leaders. Your familiarity with cloud computing and emerging technologies will position you at the forefront of innovation within our organization. Responsibilities:
- Provide in-depth knowledge and subject-matter expertise to help solve complex business problems.
- Create models and standards to govern which data is collected, and how it is stored, arranged, integrated, and used in data systems and in organizations.
- Identify, capture and document relevant business information in an auditable, organized, understandable, and easily retrievable manner.
- Develop, implement and deliver systems, products and services related to machine learning.
- Use tools and techniques for analyzing and documenting logical relationships among data, processes or events.
- Implement prototyping disciplines, tools and techniques in evolutionary models within the target environment.
- Use, support and access facilities for extracting and formatting a database management system.
- Understand business needs and identify opportunities for process optimization to meet business objectives using cutting-edge data science.
- Create descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive models and insights to drive impact across the organization.
- Support the delivery of strategic advanced analytics solutions across the organization with solutions drawing on descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics and modeling.
- Design and implement solutions and corresponding data architectures to address the needs of the customer.
- Work closely with the customer to understand their unique problems and constraints, and then dig into their data-rich environment to find the pieces of their information puzzle.
- Analyze algorithms, write scripts, build predictive analytics, automate processes, apply machine learning techniques, and use the right combination of tools and frameworks to turn a set of disparate data points into objective answers to help leadership make informed decisions.
- Communicate principled conclusions from data using mathematics, statistics, computer science, and application specific knowledge.
- Apply knowledge in machine learning, statistics, software development, and data science to solve challenges and provide meaningful insight on datasets of all sizes and types.
- Utilize statistical analysis, unsupervised machine learning, supervised machine learning, and deep learning as needed
- Build models and simulations to describe data, predict events, and prescribe a course of action
- Look for innovative ways to derive novel insights from customer data
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams from across the organization to design and execute technical studies across a variety of domains
- Effectively communicate and clearly present results to leadership
- Design creative AI and ML algorithms as well develop analytic pipelines for analyzing large-scale and complex data
- Leverage a broad set of modern technologies - including Python, R, Scala, and Spark - to analyze and gain insights within large data sets

Requirements
- Minimum 8 years of experience in related field
- Strong enthusiasm for quantitative problem-solving and data analysis
- Creative thinker and motivated problem solver with a collaborative spirit
- Experience with regression, decision trees, and machine learning models
- Proficient in data mining tools and techniques to extract business insights
- Ability to document and organize business information in a clear, retrievable manner
- Experienced in statistics, machine learning algorithms, and algorithm development
- Expertise in programming languages (e.g., SAS, SQL, Python, R) and big data tools (e.g., Apache Spark, Snowflake)
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and experience with IT system development
- Skilled in creating interactive visualizations and technical documentation for data analyses
- Strong communication skills with experience presenting to management and interfacing with clients
- Ability to anticipate and mitigate project risks and develop briefings for senior leaders
- Familiar with Agile/Scrum environment
Preferred Skills:
- Master's or Ph.D. in a relevant technical discipline and one or more data science certifications
- Experience in fraud scheme studies and evaluating federal program integrity activities
