We are seeking a Nuclear Nonproliferation Project Engineer/Leader to support the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Office of Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation R&D (DNN R&D) and support a team working directly to address some of DNN's hardest problems. You will provide expertise and support for DNN R&D's technical projects/programs to include capturing technical program/project management best practices and providing analysis of dependencies across multiple inter-related technical projects. Leveraging system engineering and integration (SE&I) expertise, you will assist DNN R&D in assessing performance, risk, and future needs to improve program performance and accountability. Your work will be instrumental in creating an environment of transparency and collaboration between DNN R&D researchers and operational users.

This is a full-time position based in Albuquerque, NM, Crystal City, VA, Chantilly, VA or El Segundo, CA, offering a hybrid work model that combines 3-4 regular onsite workdays and hybrid flexibility as the business needs allow.

What You'll Be Doing
- Support a portfolio of high-impact projects, engaging with other experts across multiple disciplines to explore innovative enterprise solutions to critical national missions
- Design technical methods to collect, analyze, and visualize data for customer needs
- Develop processes and metrics to measure program progress and assess utility and efficacy of actions taken to improve competencies
- Work closely with the Aerospace DNN team as a programmatic and technical consultant to identify and assess issues, concerns, challenges, and solutions relevant to nonproliferation portfolio programs
- Advance related DNN R&D mission areas by assessing, analyzing, and reporting findings
- Leverage Aerospace's SME population to bring state of the art tools and approaches to the technical and systems engineering challenges of the program
- Work as a contributing member with the Aerospace team to develop approaches and processes that will result in institutionalizing transition processes from research to operations.
- Represent the Aerospace Corporation to customers in both the NNSA and the Department of Defense (DoD) at various working and management levels
What You Need to be Successful - Project Engineer - Technical Project Management
Minimum requirements include:
- Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline
- 6 or more years of relevant experience in Technical Project Management, Physics, Engineering, or a related field
- Experience working with U.S. government agencies such as DoD or DOE/NNSA/DNN
- Experience in the analysis, development, acquisition, and testing of hardware systems
- Desire to support major program acquisition and R&D operations for the NNSA
- Willingness to travel and support customer needs as required
- Demonstrated competency in interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
- This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
In addition to the above, the minimum requirements for the Project Leader - Technical Project Management include :
- 8 or more years of relevant experience in Technical Project Management, Physics, Engineering, or a related field
- Demonstrated ability to self-manage efforts
- Demonstrated ability to efficiently deliver analysis and insights using compelling data visualizations to broad audiences from data that is often large, unstructured, or unprocessed
How You Can Stand Out

- Advanced degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Geophysics, or related technical discipline
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE)
- Demonstrated support to the Nuclear Nonproliferation enterprise
- Experience supporting the Air Force Technical Applications Center (AFTAC)
- Space-based systems experience
- Work supporting major program acquisition and/or operations for the IC or DoD
- Current and active Top Secret/SCI or DOE Q security clearance
