Senior F5 Network Engineer

Hybrid - San Antonio, Dallas TX or Arlington, VA

Overview
ASM Research is looking for a Senior F5 Network Engineer with experience in managing core network infrastructure. The individual will have experience troubleshooting complex issues related to F5 LTM load balancers, Palo Alto Firewalls, and Data Center network infrastructure. You will also act as a senior level escalation point for network issues as needed.

Job Responsibilities:

Design, implement, and maintain core network infrastructure.
  • Integrate F5 with other network components, such as Akamai
  • Install, configure, and maintain F5 systems to enhance existing architecture
  • Advance experience with yaml/Python to build Ansible playbooks to better integrate automation
  • Ability to read, write, and troubleshoot iRules to be able to trouble shoot traffic flow issues when arising
  • Experience with building out Proof of Concepts and architecting traffic flows with application enhancement teams
  • In-depth knowledge of HTTP protocols, status codes, and their implications
  • Advanced knowledge of data center network infrastructure such as Cisco routers, switches, and Palo Alto firewalls

Team Collaboration and Leadership:
  • Serve as an F5 subject matter expert within the team
  • Mentor junior members and cross train skills to all team members
  • Lead and support network-related technical discussions
  • Be available for on-call rotation

Monitoring and Security
  • Monitor network to maintain integrity and security
  • Conduct tests to ensure operability and security of the network
  • Perform Root-Cause-Analysis (RCA) and advanced troubleshooting
  • Review logging and monitoring tools to ensure best practices are being followed

Minimal Skills and Qualifications:

Experience:
  • Senior level knowledge of managing F5 LTM load balancers
  • Knowledge of Palo Alto or other NGFWs
  • Knowledge and experience in network administration
  • Experience working in highly redundant, geographically distributed infrastructure, including Akamai and other CDN technologies
  • Strong understanding of firewall policies, VPN technologies, and security best practices
  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail

Preferred Skills and Certifications:
  • F5 301 level certification/skills
  • AWS/Cloud associate level certifications
  • CCNA/CCNP skill level knowledge
  • Experience with provisioning routers and switches, such as BGP/OSPFv3 Routing configuration and management
  • Advanced diagnostic, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Advanced troubleshooting abilities to quickly restore services to normal levels of operation
  • Infoblox IPAM and DNS management
