Summary

The Personnel Security Specialist II involves preparing detailed reports, advising supervisors on security matters, and coordinating with other divisions and agencies to resolve security issues to ensure effective security management.

This position is contingent upon contract award

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support and service to the administration of the Security Program by participating in complex security assessment investigations
  • Conduct, review, and analyze a variety of interviews both internal and external to the organization
  • Manage security clearances for various individuals including applicants and those requiring access to secure spaces
  • Provide support, analysis, and research into complex personal security issues
  • Complete written reports and oral presentations utilizing critical thinking and analysis skills
  • Advise supervisors on potentially controversial matters or those with far-reaching implications
  • Perform extensive indices checks and arrest record checks to obtain pertinent information for assigned cases
  • Request, receive, review, and analyze various government files and related material to determine an individual's potential security risk
  • Summarize data and compose necessary correspondence to appropriate offices for the initiation of investigations
  • Coordinate with field offices for the submission of investigation information and critically analyze investigative reports
  • Recommend the need for polygraph examinations and/or interviews based on data analysis
  • Review and analyze the results of further investigations, interviews, and polygraph examinations to ensure all issues are resolve
  • Establish and maintain liaison with other divisions and agencies to obtain and resolve queries
  • Coordinate with other components to surface, develop, and resolve various issues encountered
  • Recommend new methods and procedures for passing and affirming clearances
  • Perform security assessment investigations and provide recommendations
  • Review and analyze requests for investigations concerning security clearances
  • Prepare detailed analyses of all information developed, including potential remedial or precautionary actions
  • Assist with briefings and debriefings of individual cases as necessary
  • Upload all official documents into the defined system of record, management, workflow, or tracking systems
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Three (3) years of experience in the personnel security investigative or investigative analyst field
  • Current TS security clearance and capable of obtaining SCI access, including passing a security CI polygraph exam
  • Experience conducting and interpreting database checks and credit reports
  • Experience performing routine office administrative support functions
  • Demonstrated analytical ability to critically review and analyze various types of incoming material and investigative reports to discern potential security vulnerabilities and to identify viable investigative leads.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Skill in operating a personal computer and standard office equipment.
  • Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) knowledge.
  • Must be proficient within MS Excel and strong functionality within MS Office Suite.
