Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivate, career and customer-oriented Stern Landing Vessel Assessment Team (VAT) Manager to help support our current USMC contract out of Brisbane, Australia.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- The VAT Manager serves as the team lead located in Australia in the vicinity of the vessel's homeport and is responsible for all operational and assessment activities, acting as the primary intermediary between the VAT team, Crew, SeaTransport Superintendent, Ship Manager, the MCWL G3, S&T, ExDiv, SLV (STS) Project Manager, and the Australian Army Littoral Maneuver Program (LitMP) office.
- This role includes leading the RMB to identify, assess, report, and mitigate any potential risks.
- As a current / past Master Mariner, the VAT Manager will also provide expert maritime operational insight and ensure that all VAT, and SLV (STS) Crew activities align with the broader project goals set by MCWL, LitMP Office, and ManTech.
- Direct all VAT activities, ensuring compliance with the objectives established by Sponsors.
- Frequent interaction and coordination between the VAT and SLV (STS) is expected.
- Lead the RMB, coordinating risk assessments and mitigation strategies, and present findings to the MCWL/G-3 Cross-Functional Team (CFT) for go/no-go scheduling and operational decisions. Directly responsible to all four: MCWL, ManTech, MariGuard LLC, and the LitMP Office to reduce overall risk and ensure the vessel remains compliant with all Vessel Insurance limitations, requirements, and restrictions.
- Compile all findings and submit reports to the SLV (STS) Project Manager to route for Sponsor approval.
- Perform additional responsibilities and duties as required by the VAT Manager or SLV (STS) Project Manager
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree and at least 10 years of experience with operating littoral-like vessels and/or boats in domestic Australian waters/oceans, ports, ramps, and beaches.
- Experience operating littoral-like vessels and/or boats in international waters/oceans, ports, ramps, and beaches within the South Pacific and desired experience operating in and around the Philippine Sea.
- Australian Master Mariner certification (expired within last five years or current) and extensive risk management experience
- Experience operating littoral-like vessels and/or boats in domestic Australian waters/oceans, ports, ramps, and beaches.
- Experience operating littoral-like vessels and/or boats in international waters/oceans, ports, ramps, and beaches within the South Pacific and desired experience operating in and around the Philippine Sea.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven ability to coordinate assessments under high-level supervision
- Certificate of Competency (CoC) issued by Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA)
- Minimum of 36 months of sea service as an officer in charge of a navigational watch on vessels
- At least 12 months must be as Chief Mate on ships
Clearance Requirement:
- US Citizen with the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.
Physical Requirement:
- Requires the ability to work aboard vessel and ashore
