Work you'll do

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Linux Systems Engineer with networking experience to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Linux system administration and a solid understanding of networking concepts and technologies. This role involves managing and maintaining our Linux-based infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • This role is onsite in Norfolk, VA.
  • Manage and maintain Linux servers, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Perform system monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
  • Implement and manage security measures to protect systems and data.
  • Configure and manage network services such as DNS, DHCP, NTP, and VPN.
  • Collaborate with the networking team to ensure seamless integration of network and system components.
  • Automate repetitive tasks using scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python).
  • Manage and maintain configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
  • Perform regular system backups and recovery procedures.
  • Monitor system logs and respond to incidents and alerts.
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and changes.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Proven experience as a Linux Systems Engineer or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems (e.g., Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu).
  • Experience with network protocols and services (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NTP, VPN).
  • Familiarity with network devices and concepts (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python).
  • Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
  • Solid understanding of system security and best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5 years of systems or networking administration/engineering experience
  • Active Secret clearance
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
  • Travel up to 10%
  • Must be able to work onsite in Norfolk, VA.
  • Sec+ certification or equivalent certification


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus).
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., RHCE, CompTIA Linux+, CCNA
