Overview
Telecommunications Mechanic I (FRCAFB-2025-22120):
Bowhead seeks to network with a Telecommunications Mechanic I for an upcoming proposal effort to support BTS projects at Fairchild AFB. This upcoming contract will ensure seamless execution and rapid response for telecommunications support, tailored to meet and exceed customer requirements.

Telecommunications Mechanic I (FRCAFB-2025-22120):
Bowhead seeks to network with a Telecommunications Mechanic I for an upcoming proposal effort to support BTS projects at Fairchild AFB. This upcoming contract will ensure seamless execution and rapid response for telecommunications support, tailored to meet and exceed customer requirements.
Responsibilities
Essential functions will include:
- Assist in installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of telecommunications infrastructure.
- Perform cable pulling, splicing, and repair of OSP/ISP systems.
- Support Preventive Maintenance Inspections (PMIs) on terminals, cables, and distribution frames.
- Update CAIRS database with new installations, repairs, and relocations.
- Conduct routine cable staking, marking, and service connection tasks.
- Assist in telecommunications system outages and emergency repairs.
- Follow all safety protocols and industry standards in performing maintenance duties.
- Support telephony switch programming, updates, and configuration.
- Provide input for technical documentation and reporting.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Basic experience in installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications equipment.
- Knowledge of cabling infrastructure, including fiber optics, CAT-6, and structured cabling systems.
- Familiarity with telecommunications tools for fault detection, splicing, and diagnostics.
- Ability to follow technical manuals, industry standards, and DoD/USAF guidelines.
- Basic understanding of telephony switch operations and distribution systems.
- Ability to use network monitoring and diagnostic tools for troubleshooting.
- Required to undergo on-the-job training for compliance with mission-critical telecommunications tasks.
- Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
- Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
- Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
- Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
- Must be able to lift telecommunications equipment and tools.
- Work may require crawling, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces.
- Exposure to weather conditions, electrical hazards, and underground facilities.
- Extended periods of standing, bending, kneeling, and working with hand tools.
