Program Overview
About The Role
Conducts in-depth analysis of unstructured and semi-structured data, utilizing statistical and programming skills to collect, analyze and interpret all types of Defense Critical Infrastructure relevant data sets. Develops and implements techniques or leverages analytical applications to transform raw data into meaningful information using data-oriented programming languages and visualization software. Offering solutions to improve data storage and handling, and better ways to operationalize data. Applies data mining, data modeling, natural language processing, and machine learning to extract and analyze information from large structured and unstructured datasets. Leverages hands-on experience working with data science methods, such as statistical modeling, information retrieval, graph analysis, data mining, and machine learning. Models complex business problems and possess familiarity with natural language processing, machine learning, predictive modeling, statistical analysis, and hypothesis testing. Develops information tools, algorithms, dashboards, and queries to monitor and improve business performance. Maintains awareness of emerging analytics and big-data technologies.
Presents complex data to varying audiences of different technical levels. Supports defining specific process improvement projects to identify meaningful insights, interprets, communicates findings, and makes recommendations, including process improvement opportunities. Implements continual process improvement activities, including data, processes, interfaces, tools, and technology insertion. Leverages experience working in an Agile-based environment. Requires strong technical and computational skills - engineering, physics, mathematics, coupled with the ability to code design, develop, and deploy sophisticated applications using advanced unstructured and semi-structured data analysis techniques and utilizing high-performance computing environments.
Has the ability to utilize advance tools and computational skills to interpret, connect, predict and make discoveries in complex data and deliver recommendations for business and analytic decisions.
Possesses extensive experience with software development, either an open-source enterprise software development stack (Java/Linux/Ruby/Python) or a Windows development stack (.NET, C#, C++). Experience with data transport and transformation APIs and technologies such as JSON, XML, XSLT, JDBC, SOAP, and REST. Experience with Cloud-based data analysis tools, including Hadoop and Mahout, Acumulo, Hive, Impala, Pig, and similar. Experience with visual analytic tools like Microsoft Pivot, Palantir, or Visual Analytics. Experience with open-source textual processing such as Lucene, Sphinx, Nutch, or Solr.
Experience implementing systems engineering processes using Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools. (Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw). Experience working as a member of a multi-disciplinary project team that may include engineers, scientists, and software developers.

Target Salary Range: $135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.

Qualifications

- Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD
- Degree in Data Science, Analytics, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, or related fields
- Active Secret clearance
- Possesses hands-on experience using Python, R, or other languages is required to build statistical models or analyze data
- In-depth experience required with: Python, SQL, Bash, Scala, Java, Hadoop, Apache, Spark, Kafka, Hive, Kibana, or Elasticsearch
- Creating complex SQL queries and functions, data structures, and strong analytical problem-solving skills
- Experience in statistical modeling, information retrieval, graph analysis, data mining, machine learning, or related experience
- Experience in one or more of the following: advanced software programs, algorithms, querying, automated processes, integration, and evaluation of datasets
- Possesses excellent interpersonal, organizational, writing, communications; has strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving, and briefing skills
- IBM Data Science Professional Certification or equivalent
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Fundamentals or equivalent
- Strong understanding and familiarity with Cloud technologies, resources, and tools
