Orbis is seeking a Full-Time Systems Engineer to work in the Washington Metro Area region. The selected candidate will have ultimate responsibility for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the Systems Engineering area of responsibility.

Duties/Responsibilities
Assist with the development of system requirements, functional requirements, and allocation of the same to individual hardware, software, facility, and personnel components.
Allocate real-time process budgets and error budgets to systems and subsystem components.

Develop system design solutions that satisfy system requirements and fulfill functional analysis.
Participate in the development of system engineering documentation, such as System Engineering Plans, Initial Capabilities Documents, Requirements Specifications, and Interface Control Documents.
Implement comprehensive SOA solutions.
Develop system design alternatives considering life cycle cost, reuse, complexity, risk, system expansion, and growth.
Maintain knowledge of current and evolving standards applicable to system development to ensure consistency and interoperability of developer hardware and software.
Provide technical direction for the development, engineering, interfacing, integration, and testing of all components of complex hardware/software systems, including requirements elicitation, analysis, functional allocation, conducting system requirements reviews, developing concepts of operation and interface standards, developing system architectures, and performing technical/non-technical assessments and management as well as end-to-end flow analysis.
Improve standard integration strategies based upon rationale for previous decisions that resulted in improved integration performance.
Fully define interfaces in terms of origination, destination, stimulus, and data characteristics for software, and electrical and mechanical characteristics for hardware.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities

Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline.
Twenty (20) years of experience as a Systems Engineer (SE).
Five (5) years of additional SE experience may be substituted for a bachelors degree.

Required Skills/Abilities
U.S. Citizenship.
Requires an active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance.
Ability to build and optimize data sets, big data pipelines, and architectures.
Strong analytic skills associated with working on unstructured datasets.
Ability to perform root cause analysis on external and internal processes and data to identify opportunities for improvement and answer questions.
Ability to build processes that support data transformation, workload management, data structures, dependency, and metadata.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, particularly regarding the ability to engage collaboratively and effectively in a virtual environment.
Strong time and task management skills.
Experience supporting data engineering requirements and systems within the (WMA).

Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Routine video conference and/or in-person meetings.
Ability to attend planned meetings within the Washington Metro Area region.
