Description:
We are seeking a System Administrator to support the Naval Sea Logistics Center (NAVSEALOGCEN) by managing and maintaining server environments for mission-critical IT applications used by the Navy, Marine Corps, and other Department of Defense (DoD) agencies. The System Administrator (SA) will ensure server security, compliance, and performance, supporting software updates, access control, and cybersecurity initiatives in a centralized data center environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer and maintain Linux/Red Hat and Windows Server (2008/2012) environments, ensuring system stability and security.
  • Ensure all server-hosted applications are properly documented, approved, licensed (if applicable), and securely configured in compliance with DoD standards.
  • Perform user profile management, ensuring access control compliance with STIG and security requirements at the OS, database, and application levels.
  • Monitor and analyze system, application, and security logs to identify potential issues or security threats.
  • Support release implementations by coordinating software updates, patching, and configuration changes.
  • Apply and maintain Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), ensuring system compliance with DoD security protocols.
  • Review and mitigate vulnerabilities identified in monthly Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) reports provided by the hosting facility.
  • Maintain configuration control and documentation of all system modifications, ensuring alignment with NAVSEALOGCEN IT policies.
  • Provide regular reports on system administration tasks and compliance status in the Task Order Level Monthly Report (CDRL A001).


Qualifications:
  • Experience administering Linux/Red Hat and Windows Server 2008/2012 environments.
  • Strong knowledge of system security, access control, and STIG compliance.
  • Familiarity with vulnerability assessment tools such as ACAS and the ability to identify and mitigate security risks.
  • Experience supporting software updates, release implementations, and patch management in a DoD IT environment.
  • Ability to monitor system logs, troubleshoot issues, and ensure configuration control within a centralized data center.
