MBA CSi is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Software Quality Assurance Specialist to join our Software Process Management (SPM) Team, supporting the Engineering Systems (ES) division of the U.S. Postal Service in Merrifield, VA. The SPM Team maintains the ES software development life cycle (SDLC) process on new mail process equipment (MPE), mail handling equipment (MHE), support systems (SS), and maintenance releases on existing equipment. Within the SDLC process, SPM performs configuration management, independent verification and validation, as well as software and system test activities tasks to support and participate in the release process. The USPS ES organization designs and develops MPE/MHE, including integration of the respective support systems/subsystems for the equipment. The automation processing equipment consists of a combination of hardware, controls systems (operational technology, OT), software applications, databases, and Web applications in a combination of distributed and centralized environments.

The current SDLC includes legacy Waterfall and hybrid Waterfall-Agile processes, with most development teams still using the Waterfall process. SPM's hybrid-Agile process includes VersionOne and ALM Enterprise applications and customized hybrid-Agile process steps in the SBM application. The SDLC tools in place for the SDLC process are customized using MicroFocus Serena Business Management (SBM) and Dimensions applications, and the ES Web site (reports and training documents). The SPM Team supports and manages these systems.

The Software Quality Assurance Specialist focuses on ensuring quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and effective management of technical records and archives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in records management, excellent organizational skills, and familiarity with document control processes in a technical or engineering environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect, scan, index, and archive technical records, ensuring completeness and accuracy
  • Maintain and manage the archive function within the Engineering department
  • Ensure compliance with quality assurance standards and regulatory requirements for technical files and records
  • Generate and maintain technical audit reports using Microsoft Office for external auditing purposes
  • Develop and maintain procedures and processes related to records and document management
  • Ensure technical data is accurately recorded, classified, and easily retrievable
  • Collaborate with team members, customers, and external stakeholders to provide technical records and archive support
  • Utilize electronic document management systems to upload, version, and maintain technical records and archives


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineer (preferred) or related field
    • Degree program must be accredited by a U.S. board of accreditation such as ABET
  • 5+ years of experience in records and archive management, preferrable in a technical or engineering environment
  • Experience with SDLC processes (Waterfall, Agile, and hybrid approaches)
  • Familiarity with document control and compliance in a technical or engineering context
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance standards in technical fields
  • Experience with electronic document management systems and version control
  • Proficiency in writing technical audit reports using Microsoft Office
  • Excellent attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Ability to work collaboratively in team environments and with customers
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check & drug test
