**VDI Engineer Manager – ARNG Program (Onsite, 5 Days a Week)**
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced VDI Engineer Manager to lead the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) operations for a critical Army National Guard (ARNG) program. This role requires full-time onsite presence (5 days a week) at a designated government facility. The VDI Engineer Manager will oversee the design, implementation, security, and maintenance of enterprise-level VDI environments, ensuring seamless and secure remote access for ARNG personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the deployment, maintenance, and optimization of Citrix, VMware Horizon, or Microsoft AVD-based VDI environments for the ARNG program.
- Manage a team of VDI engineers, ensuring high availability, performance, and security of virtual desktop environments.
- Design and implement scalable, secure, and redundant VDI solutions to meet DoD and ARNG operational requirements.
- Ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity policies, STIGs, RMF, and NIST 800-53 guidelines for virtualized environments.
- Oversee software patching, OS image management, profile management, and application virtualization.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement proactive measures to enhance stability and efficiency.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure VDI solutions are hardened against threats and vulnerabilities.
- Support integration with Active Directory, Group Policy, MFA, and other enterprise security controls.
- Provide technical guidance and training to team members and end users on VDI best practices.
- Develop and maintain documentation, including system configurations, standard operating procedures, and security policies.
Required Qualifications:
- Active DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance (or ability to obtain one).
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (equivalent experience may be considered).
- 5+ years of experience in VDI engineering, with at least 2+ years in a managerial or leadership role.
- Expertise in Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, VMware Horizon, or Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD).
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, SCCM, and PowerShell scripting.
- Experience with DoD cybersecurity policies, STIG compliance, and risk management frameworks.
- Certifications preferred: Citrix CCP-V, VMware VCP-DTM, Microsoft Azure VDI, Security+ (DoD 8570.01-M compliance required, IAT Level II or III certification preferred).
- Experience working in a military or government IT environment is a plus.
Work Location & Schedule:
- 100% onsite, 5 days a week at an ARNG facility.
- May require occasional travel to other National Guard locations.
