Duties
1. Troubleshoots, installs, removes, repairs. modifies, adjusts, inspects, and
tests euch components as regulators, flow indicators, actuator motors, thruster and
positioning mechanisms, seat actuators, catapult guide rails, ejection seats, rocket
packs, and canopies, etc. Inspects for safety, serviceability, and maintainability of
systems prior to installation, removal, repair, or adjustments of components and insures
proper installation and positioning of safety pins. initiators, simulators, and
clearing mechanisms. Visually inspects ballistic lines, tubes, hoses, and linkage
for damage, deterioriation, restrictions, and security of connections and mountings,
and performs corrective maintenance as required. Stores egress explosives IAW AFOSH standards.
2. Inspects pressurization system air pressure gauges for sufficient pressure and
bottles and regulators for general condition and serviceabilitv. Checks canopy and
capsule structure and associated seals, latches, and locks for damaae and security.
Installs and maintains Jet Assistance Take Off (JATO) systems when applicahle. Isolates
the malfunction and takes necessary corrective action. Positions, repairs, and
adjusts required aerospace ground equipment, such as rail extensions, hoists, slings.
dollies, and trailers used in performing maintenance tasks.
3. Performs installation, modification, and repair of aircraft egress systems.
Solves unusual installation and maintenance problems by studying lavout drawings,
schematic and wiring diagrams, applicable technical publications, and analyzing construction
and operating characteristics of egress systems. Selects proper maintenance
and repair procedures and corrects the malfunction and/or defective equipment. Diagnoses recurring malfunctions and recommends corrective action bv initiation of Quality Deficiency Reports, proposed modifications, or other appropriate action. Performs Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTO'S) related to egress systems.
4. Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations such
as ORI, IC and UE inspections, mobility, and command support exercises. Mav be required
to perform such additional duties as structural fire fighting, aircraft fire/
crash/rescue duty, securitv Ruerd, snow removal, munitions 1oadinE and handling. heavy
equipment operator, maintnan-w~ of facilities and equi:,rrent. or serve 3s a member .of
a teem to cope with natural disasters or civil uuergencies.
5. Performs other duties as assigned.

Positions will be advertised for a total of up to 30 calendar days under the following criteria:
(1) At the request of the Selecting Official, if applications are received from individuals who meet the qualifications of Tier 1 within the first 10 days, the posting will close, and an interview panel will be conducted.
(2) If conditions of Tier 1 are not satisfied, the posting will continue for another 10 days, and-at the request of the Selecting Official-close after that if applications meeting eligibility under either Tier 1 or Tier 2 are received, and an interview panel will be conducted.
(3) If conditions of Tier 1 or Tier 2 are not satisfied, the posting will continue for the remaining 10 days, for a total of 30 days.
NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED : This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position Constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have general experience in troubleshoot, install, modify, repair, and adjust a variety of ordnance systems such as missile and special weapons launching devices, decoys, egress and jettison systems, and rocket launching equipment. They repair malfunctions as a result of troubleshooting and adjust the installed ordnance system to conform to specifications. The systems and equipment utilize mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical principles of operation and require the use of schematics, blueprints, and technical-manuals in completing pairs. Mechanics at this level plan and lay out the repair sequence, and complete the modification, repair, and installation of any ordnance system in the inventory.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 18 months experience or training in planning and layout of repair sequence and ability to complete modification, repair, and installation of ordnance systems. Experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting malfunctions and determining remedies where complex relationships exist. Experience in hand tools and the use of a variety of measuring and test equipment. Experience in interpreting technical directions, blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer's specifications.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE : Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of months/years.
