Abba Technologies has immediate opportunity for a Telecom Support Engineer to work onsite at the DOE Facility in Amarillo, TX. This is an exciting opportunity to manage installation, troubleshooting and repair of a large variety of equipment in a Central Office Telecom Environment. The ideal candidate will have experience with routers, switches, cabling, and both hardware, software and configuration in Telecom and IT environments.
A DOE Q Security Clearance is required.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for implementation and maintenance of all telecom equipment including line cards, power cards, Octel 250.
• Design, configure, monitor, and optimize telephone system for optimal performance, maximum availability, minimal maintenance, and reasonable costs
• Follow procedures and guidelines for troubleshooting telephone events and performing tasks
• Develop and test new telephone equipment expansions
• Assist with telephone network architecture, network reliability, and perform root cause analysis of equipment, process, and service failures
• Update telephone network topology and infrastructure
• Call NOC for support for telephone hardware and software
Qualifications:
• This position requires a technical degree and/or 5 years’ equivalent relevant work experience.
• Experience with Telephone and data switching systems may include Aastra (formerly InteCom) PointSpan Telephone System (PBX), Octel Voice Mail System, and underlying infrastructure of Fiber and copper cable plants.
• Demonstrated experience with multiple common telephone network components to include routers, switches, firewalls, protocols, VoIP, DNS, remote access, VPN, routing, and switching
• Experience with various telephone small/large PBX switches
• Moderate understanding of the telephone framework
