Network Designer II (Government)

Job Description:

This position requires office presence of a minimum of 5 days per week and is only located in the location(s) posted. No relocation is offered.

AT&T has an opening for a Network Designer II to support our government customer's bespoke network environment. The Networks Team provides initial design and deployment of a unique access solution for our customer, followed by continuing operations and engineering of service delivery solutions. This is an opportunity to build a network from the ground up and operate it over a 10-year contract.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• Interpret customer requirements and apply standard design approaches for service delivery. Fully document designs with diagrams, bill of materials, cabling sheets, configurations, and other supporting documents.
• Develop secure network designs including configurations that align with Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and enterprise policies. Obtain Authority to Operate (ATO) for new devices, software, and capabilities.
• Install, configure and support network equipment including routers, switches, firewalls, call managers, and network management suites.
• Procure network equipment and manage subcontractors involved with network installation.
• Configure firewalls, routing, and switching to maximize network efficiency and advanced security.
• Maximize network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Investigate faults in the network and report network status to key stakeholders.
• Develop and improve design products, processes, and systems for our team to work efficiently and effectively.

Required Qualifications:

The candidate must have 7 years of experience that can be a combination of work history and education. This equates to a doctorate and 0 years of experience OR a master's and 2 years, a bachelor's and 3 years, an associates and 5 years or HS and 7 years. Required qualifications include the following:

• Compliance with DoD 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2 (Security+ CE).
• Experience specific to Network Engineering to include Tier3 or higher network operations and/or network design and implementation.
• Prior responsibility for production network hardware configurations.
• Hands-on experience implementing and troubleshooting standard routing protocols in a production network, such as Open Shortest Path First (OSPF).
• Hands-on experience implementing and troubleshooting standard switching and trunking protocols in a production network, such as Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), 802.1q, and port-channels.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and troubleshooting skills with a high level of attention to detail are required to succeed in this environment.

Desired Qualifications

• Network engineering and design experience specific to Local Area Networks. Experience should include application of industry standards, developing configurations, and integration of solutions into production environments.
• Network engineering and design experience with dynamic routing protocols, Cisco network management tools, Cisco SDWAN, and firewalls.
• Expert knowledge of routing and switching protocols and the ability to demonstrate knowledge through briefings and documentation. Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent knowledge.
• Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)
• Initiative and disciplined to work unsupervised as part of a network engineering team. Experience establishing process, developing documents, and organizing repositories a plus.

Our Network Designer II' s earn between $150,000 - $170,000 . Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
