Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Littoral Combat Ship (LCS), Platform Engineer to join our team at SURFMEPP in Portsmouth, VA.
Job Summary:
The Surface Maintenance Engineering, Planning, Program (SURFMEPP) maintains, monitors, and refines Class-wide and Individual-Ship Maintenance Plans for all non-nuclear surface ships to ensure material readiness for the projected service life, develop life-cycle strategies to address system upgrades, and fully implement the Class Maintenance Plan into each surface ship's maintenance schedule and availability planning process.
The LCS Platform Engineering acts as the Subject Matter Expert for assigned ship-class lifecycle maintenance and is responsible for providing technical oversight of Class Maintenance Plan (CMP) task execution, construction and deletion. They review the technical requirements of the Baseline Availability Work Packages (BAWPs) to ensure that the work package is executable and technically accurate. They oversee the end-to-end deferral process while providing technical analysis of requested deferrals, substitutions and cancellations, and they serve as the Life Cycle Branding authority for all non-CMP jobs to ensure execution during the appropriate maintenance period.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Coordinate with Port Engineers, Technical Warrant Holders, In-Service Engineering Agents, Ship Design Managers and Regional Maintenance Centers in all matters concerning maintenance and modernization
- Expert knowledge of Hull Mechanical & Electrical (HM&E) and Combat and Weapons Systems
- Conduct review of Current Ship Maintenance Project (CSMP), Class Maintenance Plan (CMP) and other data sources to create an Engineered Work Package for a Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) availability that integrates all facets of maintenance and modernization
- Validate existing CMP content through engineering and data analysis
- Update CMP requirements' man-day and material cost estimates from a review and analysis of actual return costs
- Assist in the development of CMP tasks for Program and Fleet Modernization requirements with associated configuration data for assigned ship class
- Coordinate CMP Processing activities, including the development, maintenance and monitoring of Baseline Availability Work Packages (BAWP), Availability Work Packages (AWP)
- Validate the CMP content through review of requirements in Joint Fleet Maintenance Manuel (JFMM), Naval Ships Technical Manual (NSTM), Ship Specifications, tech manuals, instructions and drawings
- Develop, collate and brief maintenance and modernization documents and strategies to all working levels of the maintenance team, to include Senior Executive Service (SES) and Flag-level
- Develop and deliver engineered ship-specific Shipsheets in support of Planning, Programming, Budget and Execution (PPBE)
Minimum Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in the Naval Engineering Field
- Demonstrated engineering experience as Naval Officer or Senior Enlisted ("Senior Enlisted" defined as Chief, Senior Chief or Master Chief); OR Prior experience as Port Engineer or Project Manager for subject ship class
- Working knowledge of Naval Ships (preferably LCS Class of Ships)
- Working knowledge of navy correspondence
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the following areas:
- Demonstrated maintenance planning experience with amphibious surface ship classes
- If prior active duty Navy, Qualification as Engineering Officer of the Watch (EOOW)
- Navy Maintenance through Ship Yard experiences such as serving onboard a ship or on a Project Team during a ship's Depot Level (CNO Avail) or throughout an Optimized Fleet Response Plan (OFRP) Maintenance Cycle
- Surface navy ships in the planning, budgeting, execution of off-ship repair, maintenance, and modernization
- US Navy surface ship depot level maintenance planning process and associated organizations. Develop presentations

- Must have a current/active Secret Security Clearance
