(MTSI) is seeking a APFIT Communications Manager , you will be responsible for helping manage nationwide communications efforts for the Accelerate the Procurement and Fielding of Innovative Technologies (APFIT) program. The position is located in Falls Church, VA area.

Responsibilities

As the APFIT Communications Manager , you will be responsible for helping manage nationwide communications efforts for the Accelerate the Procurement and Fielding of Innovative Technologies (APFIT) program. The APFIT program was started in Fiscal Year 2022, to provide procurement funding for innovative projects that have completed development and are ready to transition into operational use.

Funding amounts of $10M-$50M are awarded to projects with small business or non-traditional performers to accelerate initial production and reduce the overall procurement timeline. The Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research & Engineering, OUSD(R&E), conducts a competitive down-select process each year using evaluation criteria including impact to the warfighter, sustainment support, and applicability to the broader DoD.

Projects are awarded in coordination with a Service, Combatant Command, Defense Agency, or other organization and have included everything from procurement of undersea sensors to the manufacture and launch of satellites.

Daily work is conducted as an integrated team member of the Multi-Domain Joint Operations (MDJO)Directorate under the Deputy Chief Technology Officer for Mission Capabilities (DCTO(MC)) within the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E)).

Work locations are in the DC metropolitan area with opportunities for situational telework.

Primary responsibilities are to:

• You will develop a national level communications strategy to increase awareness of APFIT across the Department of Defense and inform small businesses and nontraditional defense contractors on the APFIT solicitation process.
• Manage communications and messaging to small businesses.
• Construct press releases, provide website update content, and make social media posts.
• Orchestrate meetings with stakeholders.
• Engage with senior level industry professionals.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant work experience.
• Experience solving complex technical, management, and administrative problems.
• Experience interfacing with personnel at all levels of the DoD (Services, DoD Agencies, OSD, Joint Staff, Program Offices).
• Executive presence with highly effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to develop high-quality, professional briefings and written reports to succinctly capture key program successes for DoD decision-makers and Congress.
• Self-starter, able to take initiative and accomplish work independently with minimal guidance.
• Must be highly organized with strong attention to detail.
• Experience producing and executing communications plans.

Desired Qualification:

• OSD, Joint Staff, and/or Service Staff experience.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree desired .

Clearance:

• Active TOP SECRET clearance with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmentalized Information (SCI).
• U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
