Position Overview

Far Ridgeline Engagements (a QinetiQ US company) is seeking a senior-level Electrical Engineer with extensive experience in electro-mechanical design to join our team supporting a US Government client in Reston, VA.This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, results-driven, multi-functional team of engineers and data scientists laser focused on delivering advanced technical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Architect electro-mechanical design concepts in support of customer requirements
• Develop software and hardware devices and create detailed specifications
• Participate in product design reviews as both a technical assessor and presenter
• Electronics design from schematic capture and PCB layout, to test planning and implementation
• Test and troubleshoot prototypes and provide customer technical support
• Lead the development activities, including requirements gathering, concept development, hardware design, component selection, schematic design, circuit board layout, prototyping, and product integration testing
• Develop system designs to optimize product size, weight, power, and cost
• Support and maintain existing products
• Collaborate and implement designs with other project team members
• Work closely with software engineers, product managers, and vendors to ensure successful project coordination and integration
• Validate design by simulations and tests at a prototype level
• Translate user and customer needs into documented technical requirements and specifications
• Conduct technology feasibility studies as needed
• Design and document test fixtures and test processes
• Liaise with multidisciplinary team members, customers, and suppliers

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electro-mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or mechanical engineering
• 5 years of experience as a mechanical or electro-mechanical engineer or equivalent
• 3 years of experience in electronic systems design
• Experience in 3D computer-aided design (CAD) modeling tools (such as Siemens NX, Teamcenter, and SAP R3)
• Ability to design mechanical concepts, including capability to translate concepts into practical designs that meet specified requirements
• Familiarity with Agile engineering process
• Experience in multi-layer PCB design and microelectronic components
• Experience in embedded C or C-derived language development for microcontrollers
• Comprehensive knowledge of full design lifecycle including specification design, test, and documentation
• Excellent proficiency in component level fault finding
• High/Low temperature electronics design experience
• Experience with precision soldering
• Competent in the design and simulation of analog and digital electronics
• Proficient in schematic capture (i.e. Altium) and PCB layout
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, assembly drawings, and wire lists
• Ability to use measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, and scales
• Experience with high-density PCB layout and circuit layout tools
• Experience with test equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, and multimeters
• Experience testing and troubleshooting software, C/C++ embedded systems, and PCB layout
• Embedded software development experience
• Low power design (for battery powered devices) experience
• Familiar with RF communications and micro-electronic antenna technology
• Electro-mechanical assembly skills
• Experience with GITLAB, computer aided design (CAD; i.e. SolidWorks), MATLAB, or similar engineering tools
• Experience with technical writing and creating documentation
• Current TS/SCI Clearance with CI poly or ability to obtain one prior to employment start #qinetiqclearedjob
• Successful Completion of Pre-Employment Background Investigation required
