As a Buyer at Areté, you are responsible for supporting supply chain activities in a production and R&D environment, following company policies and procedures for various purchasing functions. Procuring sources and negotiating the buying of machinery, equipment, tools, raw material (electronic components, PCBs, Optics parts, Fabricated parts), packaging materials, services, and/or supplies necessary to support operations from all Areté's facilities. Processing requisitions from engineering or MRP into a purchase order, but first verifying all information is correct. Obtaining and reviewing supplier quotes, negotiate prices, and select the appropriate supplier. Following up on open orders through an established and consistent expedite process. Establish internal relationships with quality, engineering, production managers and program managers to understand their requirements and order material in a timely manner that supports their schedules. Assist in setting up new suppliers working with accounting and quality in acquiring supplier surveys, NDAs, and credit information. Work with accounting when invoice issues arise. This position is based in our Tucson AZ office. This is a non-supervisory exempt full-time position.

The salary range for this role is $80,000 to $95,000; however, Arete considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including but not limited to: the position and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
Other Requirements
U.S. citizenship is required to meet position eligibility.
Selected applicants will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Successful passage of a criminal background screen is required to meet position eligibility. Areté will consider for employment qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with the requirements of the Los Angeles Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring.
Successful passage of a Department of Transportation (DOT) drug test is required to meet position eligibility.

Experiences and Background We Look For
- 3 - 5 + years of procurement experience
- 2 + years of experience doing price analysis in government orders
- Experience using MRP databases
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Ability to facilitate working relationships with internal customers and external suppliers
- Ability to search the WEB for new suppliers with assistance from internal engineers
- Working knowledge of FAR, DFAR, EAR and ITAR
- Effective organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
Nice to have
- Experience using MRP software (CostPoint desired)
- Experience with MS Project and Power point
