We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to support the U.S. Postal Service's Package Sorting Technology Group. The role involves designing and developing mechanical systems, creating detailed drawings, and ensuring precision through Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). The ideal candidate will possess expertise in 3D modeling and 2D drawings and demonstrate proficiency with both solid modeling and MS Office Suite tools.

Essential Functions:

• Interpret and apply changes from redlined "From-To" drawing markups.
• Develop solutions for challenges such as end-of-life part replacements, equipment enhancements, and production equipment analysis.
• Design, develop, and test mechanical components, equipment, and machinery.
• Utilize engineering principles to create products such as instruments, robots, machines, and controls.
• Contribute to the fabrication, operation, application, installation, and/or repair of mechanical products.
• Follow established guidelines and instructions to complete assigned tasks.
• Work under immediate supervision, reporting directly to a supervisor or manager.

Key Responsibilites:

• Independently complete mechanical design projects, including concept creation, detailing, and final design.
• Develop and refine 3D models and 2D drawings of mechanical components and assemblies using solid modeling software.
• Apply GD&T principles to ensure accurate and consistent design dimensions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support package sorting and material handling systems.
• Conduct engineering analyses and prepare technical documentation.
• Utilize MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) for communication, reporting, and presentations.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 yrs exp with Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience with solid modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo, or similar).
• Familiarity with package sorting systems or material handling equipment is a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

• Candidate must be able to sit, stand and work at a computer for prolonged periods
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills
• Ability to travel as needed (less than 10%) and work mostly Monday to Friday from 8am - 5pm on occasion weekend hours may be required
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check & drug test
