TIAG is now hiring a Software Engineer to join our team in San Diego, CA supporting the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Pacific. This position requires a Secret clearance to be processed, so only US or Naturalized citizens can be considered.

This role reports onsite in San Diego, CA up to 3x per week. This is a hybrid work opportunity, but the ability to work from NIWC PAC facilities will be required, with remote work supported outside of onsite needs. Some travel may be required for this work, but limited in nature

NIWC Pacific conducts research, development, prototyping, engineering, test and evaluation, installation, and sustainment of integrated information warfare capabilities and services across all warfighting domains with emphasis on Basic and Applied Research and Tactical Systems Afloat and Ashore in order to drive innovation and warfighter information advantage.

The Software Engineer will work with our team supporting NIWC PAC in the areas of systems engineering, systems testing, systems integration, systems engineering, data modeling and integration, as well as the requisite information assurance support required to secure the aforementioned capabilities for NIWC supported applications.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Participation in all aspects of developing software applications
  • Communicating effectively with technical team members, content subject matter experts, and customers
  • Supporting assigned projects ensuring quality delivery, identifying risks, and escalating issues
  • Maintaining awareness of new and emerging technologies and the potential application on client engagements
  • Mentoring Jr. Software Engineers as required to ensure customer mission is supported
  • Conducting software demonstrations and troubleshooting with customers of various technical expertise
  • Participating in Scrum/Agile team and software development and delivery

Required Quals/Experience:
  • Current Secret Clearance
  • BS degree in Engineering, Physics, Network Security, or Computer Science
  • Security+ Certification
  • Windows or Linux based OS cert
  • 3+ years of progressively more complex experience developing software applications using OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) and Kubernetes Clusters
  • Excellent team collaboration skills and ability to tailor communication style to support audience engagement and understanding
  • Experience with automating application fielding
  • Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems fundamentals
  • Understanding of databases, SQL systems, storage and distributed persistence technologies.

Highly Desirable Experience:

  • Experience directly developing with the Matrix open protocol for de-centralized, secure communications
  • Demonstrated experience using and creating Bash scripts
  • Able to understand, run, and write python scripts, with general knowledge of python ecosystems
  • Some familiarity with Helm
  • Experience developing and/or deploying to Kubernetes or OpenShift environments
  • Experience with oc and/or kubectl command-line tools
  • Experience with working with docker containers
  • Familiarity and experiencing writing terraform and/or cloud formation code, and practical experience with EC2, ALB, S3, EBS, EFS, and VPCs
  • Previous experience working in classified environments
  • Experience deploying systems shipboard


Pay Range: $100,000 - $120,000 per year
