Overview
Apogee has an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer in support of Special
Operations Forces Acquisition, Technology and Logistics’ (SOF AT&L) Program Executive Office for
Tactical Information Systems (PEO-TIS) Integrated Sensor Systems. PEO-TIS is composed of a team
of relentless acquisition professionals who consistently team with government and industry
partners to rapidly develop and field state-of-the-art sensors, C2, and specialized communication
systems that enable the Nation’s SOF Warfighters to win.
This is a full-time position located at MacDill Air Force Base (AFB), FL
Responsibilities
• Evaluates and recommends programs and development plans, utilizing a professional
knowledge of multi-discipline engineering.
• Works with organizational managers, budget personnel, and engineering authorities to
develop and gain approval for proposed projects.
• Supports technical evaluation elements of market surveys conducted in conjunction with
assigned projects and programs.
• Provides technical consultation involving applicable test engineering technology;
determines test requirements and overall objectives; prepare test plans to meet the
requirement of the project.
• Supports improvement and modernization, advanced strategic planning, marketing, and
technical symposia; supports management of the organization's direct and reimbursable
budget and verification of test program funds.
• Directs and coordinates engineering and maintenance programs and informs development
of criteria for specialized critical system design.
• Plans, develops, and implements procedures for review of acquisition programs and
military engineering programs; directs engineering sufficiency review of these programs
until turnover.
• Provides decision support inputs for approval of plans, specification, cost estimates, design
calculations, schedules, cost proposals, and engineering studies.
• Applies advanced tools to document and analyze the results of critical, complex activities,
and tasks.
• Plans, executes, and documents surveillance of design, development, and production
efforts on behalf of government counterparts, using performance indicators identified in
applicable engineering surveillance processes.
• Provides significant, expert-level support to government counterparts regarding the
adequacy and clarity of agency engineering and analysis processes based on daily
application of the processes and agency reporting requirements.
, • Completes advanced engineering demand tasks such as reviewing engineering change
proposals, requests for waivers and deviations, and nonconforming materials.
• Supports contract modification and makes technical recommendations for change order
approval.
• Provides expert level inputs for status briefings to leadership, outlining assigned programs,
projects, problems, and recommended resolution.
• Analyzes trends in performance indicators to assist government counterparts with
managing-Agency level performance indicators, recommending corrective action,
establishing lessons learned, and influencing the improvement of processes.
Qualifications
Minimum Experience:
Citizenship: Must be a US citizen
Clearance: TS w/SCI eligibility
Certifications: Advanced (formerly Level III) DAWIA Equivalency in the Engineering Management
field
Education: Master's Degree
Years of Experience: Minimum of 10 years experience in Systems Engineering supporting DoD
acquisition activities
Additional Experience: 3 years of DoD experience in any of the following areas: •
o Military Communications
o Signals Intelligence
o Information Technology
• Working knowledge of the Defense Acquisition System as directed by DoD Instruction
5000.02, “OPERATION OF THE ADAPTIVE ACQUISITION FRAMEWORK"
• Strategic level of technical knowledge in Military Communications or Information
Technology capabilities
• Skill in evaluating state-of-the-art scientific and environmental/engineering technologies
and incorporating into the planning, design, operation, maintenance, repair, and upgrade of
applicable systems
• Strong working Knowledge of MS Office Suite and project management/scheduling software
applications such as MS Project
