Systems Engineer

The Swift Group is seeking a highly skilled Voice Engineer Expert to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in maintaining and troubleshooting complex telephony systems, including Lucent Class 5 Electronic Switching Systems (5ESS) and various telecommunications protocols. This role requires a deep understanding of TDM trunking, call routing, and public switched telephone network (PSTN) connectivity, with a focus on optimizing and maintaining telephony infrastructure.

This position is located in the Herndon, VA area.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support and maintain existing Lucent Class 5 Electronic Switching System (5ESS) Computerized Telephony System (CTS) installations.
• Modify, add, and remove PRI TDM trunking in the 5ESS system.
• Configure and optimize on-net and off-net call routing within the 5ESS system.
• Troubleshoot Signal System 7 (SS7) connectivity issues with the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN).
• Perform de-grow procedures to remove Remote Service Modules (RSM).
• Diagnose and resolve TDM PRI issues.
• Troubleshoot and resolve TDM SS7 connectivity issues.
• Work directly with PSTN service providers to troubleshoot and resolve call routing issues.

.Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree (preferred) in a relevant field.
• Minimum of 11 years of relevant experience in telephony and voice engineering.
• Strong expertise in troubleshooting and maintaining Lucent Class 5 5ESS CTS systems.
• Proven experience in configuring and optimizing telephony infrastructure.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
• Strong understanding of voice network architecture and operations.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• US Citizenship and an active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance required

Hands-on experience with the following technologies:

Linux operating systems for voice system support.

SIP signaling and call flows for modern communication systems.

Secure Real-Time Transport Protocol (SRTP) for secure voice communications.

Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) for call setup and control.

TCP/IP networking fundamentals to support voice traffic routing.

H.323 protocol for voice communication over IP networks.

DNS and DHCP for network services integration.

Real-Time Transport Protocol (RTP) for streaming media support.

Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)

A+ Certification

Network+ Certification

Cisco Certifications:

ITIL Certification

Pay Range: $49,996.80 - $290,004.00
