The Swift Group is seeking an experienced Network Engineer (Firewalls), particularly with expertise in CISCO, Palo Alto, and Juniper network devices and associated management software. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of network security principles, excellent problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to maintaining and optimizing firewall infrastructure in support of a key government customer.
This position is located in the Herndon, VA area.

Pay Range: $49,996.80 - $290,004.00

Determination of official compensation or salary relies on several different factors including, but not limited to: level of position, complexity of job responsibilities, geographic location, work experience, education, certifications, Federal Government contract labor categories, and contract wage rates.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage firewall solutions utilizing CISCO, Palo Alto, and Juniper network devices.
- Perform configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of firewall policies and rules.
- Monitor network traffic for potential security threats and proactively address vulnerabilities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align network security standards with business objectives.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and best practices in network security and firewall technologies.
- Provide technical support and guidance to internal teams and clients on firewall-related issues.
- Participate in the evaluation and selection of new firewall technologies and vendors.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 11 years of relevant experience as a Network Engineer, with a focus on firewall technologies.
- Ability to translate customer requirements into enterprise network solutions.
- Proven experience with CISCO firewall platforms and related security technologies.
- In-depth knowledge of network protocols, TCP/IP stack, and OSI model.
- Experience with firewall management software such as Cisco FTD and Palo Alto Panorama.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills to resolve complex network security issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- US Citizenship and an active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance required
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with a wide variety of network technologies and solution architectures.
- Broad understanding of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the networking field.
- Knowledge of state-of-the-art systems engineering principles and network design concepts.
- Hands-on experience with cloud service providers and hybrid cloud environments, including:
- AWS, Azure, Oracle, and Google Cloud, with a focus on extending on-premise networks to the cloud.
- Strong proficiency with Palo Alto and Juniper firewall platforms.
- Industry certifications (preferred but not required):
- CCNA Security, CCNP Security, Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE), or equivalent industry-recognized credentials.
