Network Engineer

The Swift Group is seeking an experienced Network Engineer (Firewalls), particularly with expertise in CISCO, Palo Alto, and Juniper network devices and associated management software. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of network security principles, excellent problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to maintaining and optimizing firewall infrastructure in support of a key government customer.

This position is located in the Herndon, VA area.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and manage firewall solutions utilizing CISCO, Palo Alto, and Juniper network devices.
• Perform configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of firewall policies and rules.
• Monitor network traffic for potential security threats and proactively address vulnerabilities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align network security standards with business objectives.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and best practices in network security and firewall technologies.
• Provide technical support and guidance to internal teams and clients on firewall-related issues.
• Participate in the evaluation and selection of new firewall technologies and vendors.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).
• Minimum of 11 years of relevant experience as a Network Engineer, with a focus on firewall technologies.
• Ability to translate customer requirements into enterprise network solutions.
• Proven experience with CISCO firewall platforms and related security technologies.
• In-depth knowledge of network protocols, TCP/IP stack, and OSI model.
• Experience with firewall management software such as Cisco FTD and Palo Alto Panorama.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills to resolve complex network security issues.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• US Citizenship and an active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance required

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience with a wide variety of network technologies and solution architectures.
• Broad understanding of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the networking field.
• Knowledge of state-of-the-art systems engineering principles and network design concepts.
• Hands-on experience with cloud service providers and hybrid cloud environments, including:
  • AWS, Azure, Oracle, and Google Cloud, with a focus on extending on-premise networks to the cloud.
• Strong proficiency with Palo Alto and Juniper firewall platforms.
• Industry certifications (preferred but not required):
  • CCNA Security, CCNP Security, Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE), or equivalent industry-recognized credentials.

Pay Range: $49,996.80 - $290,004.00

Determination of official compensation or salary relies on several different factors including, but not limited to: level of position, complexity of job responsibilities, geographic location, work experience, education, certifications, Federal Government contract labor categories, and contract wage rates.
