Lead Storage Systems Engineer
Clearance: Secret, will sponsor for eligible candidates
Location: Onsite at Hanscom AFB, MA
Mon-Fri: Core hours
Salary: 100-140K
Program Description:
SSi’s team supports the mission needs of 66th Air Base Group providing efficient service delivery for critical infrastructure needs and capabilities to include Network, Voice, Server, Storage, Cybersecurity, SharePoint, and Web. We are looking for talented Systems Engineer to support the mission at Hanscom AFB, MA
Responsibilities:
• Work with a team of server engineers / administrators and will be responsible for managing and implementing storage / backup / server solutions as per AF enterprise standards in support of 66 ABG/SC and their customers under Core Services.
• Install, configure and troubleshoot server infrastructure and provide customer support for storage / backup / server services
• Administration and management of a highly available SAN / Server / Backup infrastructure supporting over 5000+ users
• Participate in system maintenance / optimization / performance activities of the SAN / Server / Backup infrastructure
• Design / Configure / Install / Implement / Monitor / Troubleshoot hardware and operating systems on server/storage/backup infrastructure
• Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
• Interfaces with vendor support service groups to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded systems performance
• Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements
• Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media are recycled and sent off site as necessary
• Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities, install and configure systems that supports server related applications
Qualifications:
• BS/BA with 6+ years of experience (or 12+ years of experience without a 4-year degree) as a Server Engineer/Administrator with strong background in Storage Area Network / Virtualization / Backup / Server infrastructure
• Working knowledge of SAN Switches/Print Service/DHCP
• Experience with Storage, ideally IDM.
• Working knowledge of server infrastructure monitoring tools is desired
• Strong server debugging and troubleshooting skills required
• Knowledge in scripting tools such as PowerShell or Python desirable
• Support emergency operations on an as needed basis 24/7 & weekend work maybe required
• Microsoft Windows Server / VMware certification is preferred
• CompTIA Security + required (obtained and active within last three years, or updated with current CEU’s within the last three years) required
• Secret level DoD security clearance - required (ability to get clearance with waiver possible if background check shows potential)
