Overview:

It is a Woman-owned Small Business consultancy, is seeking a Software Quality Assurance Specialist/Applications Tester to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing automated testing support to enhance ART scores, improve user interfaces (UI), re-index test dates, and address data discrepancies. You will play a critical part in ensuring the functionality, quality, and usability of the software through rigorous testing, bug tracking, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Test Planning & Development:
    • Design and develop test plans and scripts using automated testing tools.
    • Develop, install, and maintain software testing programs for database impacts, software scenarios, regression testing, negative testing, error/bug retesting, and usability.
  • Test Execution & Documentation:
    • Conduct compatibility tests with programs, hardware, operating systems, or networks.
    • Create and maintain test defects and document defects using a bug tracking system.
    • Monitor bug resolution and track successes.
    • Document test procedures ensuring replicability and compliance with standards.
    • Develop and specify standards, methods, and procedures to determine product quality or release readiness.
  • Testing Strategy & Feedback:
    • Evaluate and recommend software for testing or bug tracking.
    • Provide feedback and recommendations to developers on software usability.
    • Participate in product design reviews to provide input on functional requirements, product designs, schedules, or potential issues.
    • Perform initial debugging by reviewing configuration files, logs, or code pieces to determine breakdown source.
  • Coordination & Reporting:
    • Plan test schedules or strategies in accordance with project scope or delivery dates.
    • Coordinate user or third-party testing.
    • Test system modifications to prepare for implementation.
  • Quality Control & Maintenance:
    • Identify, analyze, and document problems with program function, output, online screen, or content.
    • Install and configure recreated software production environments for testing software performance.
    • Monitor program performance to ensure efficient, problem-free operations.
    • Update automated test scripts to ensure currency.


Qualifications:

Education & Experience:
  • Experience:
    • 6+ years of experience in software quality assurance or applications testing for candidates in the lower salary range.
    • 12+ years of experience for candidates aiming for the higher salary range.
  • Clearance:
    • Must have an active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph clearance.

Skills & Abilities:
  • Experience with automated testing tools and test script development.
  • Familiarity with database impacts and regression testing techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of bug tracking systems and the ability to report, monitor, and resolve issues.
  • Ability to develop and maintain test defect documentation and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Expertise in software performance testing and identifying program issues such as output, functionality, and content.
  • Familiarity with debugging procedures (e.g., reviewing configuration files, logs, and code).
  • Experience with coordinating user/third-party testing and ensuring thorough testing before software release.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with developers to provide feedback on usability, functional issues, and software improvements.
