The United States Space Force (USSF) at Naval Support Facility-Dahlgren, Dahlgren Virginia is searching for a Technical Director for 19 SDS (NH-0301-04, GS-14/15 equivalent).
Description:
Are you looking for a great opportunity right outside of Washington DC with the Space Force, the 19 Space Defense Squadron is a new unit in the United States Space Force leading the way for innovation and federation in space to maintain freedom of action for the U.S., allied, and commercial partners. We are seeking professionals who will push the bounds of space domain awareness for the foundation of space defense.
To exercise first level supervisory and managerial authorities over the 19 SDS as top-ranking civilian. To serve as lead supervisor over the Mission Assurance (MA) Branch and a member of the 19 SDS's leadership team. Provides oversight to and leads team of Information Technology (IT) Specialists and Computer System Operators who support the unit's IT requirements. Provides technical, managerial, and administrative support for personnel assigned to the MA Branch. Provides leadership and guidance to all assigned personnel. Plans, conducts, and attends meetings, conferences, and briefings; professionally represents the 19 SDS, and collaborates with the 18 SDS and Delta 2 Technical Director at all levels and in all environments. Manages the day-to-day operations of the IT workforce and oversees all administrative, logistical, security and personnel activities required to ensure continuity of operations. Responsible for informing 19 SDS leadership of any mission impacting considerations to ensure overall success of the organizational mission.
Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of the theories, concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, and materials of professional multidisciplinary engineering to effectively apply advanced engineering principles and concepts to new applications, experimental theories, and other areas of responsibility.
2. Knowledge of planning and program management to execute major projects, provide expert advice to colleagues, and present innovative recommendations for advancing programs and/or methods.
3. Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures.
4. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions of an organization and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff through subordinate supervisors.
5. Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.
6. Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy, both orally and in writing, as well as work in a professional manner with peers, management, contractors, academia, and other agencies.

- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret / SCI clearance.
- Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
- This position is designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program.
- May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and/or shift work may be required which may include overtime and/or irregular hours.
- PCS funding is not authorized.
- Position is not eligible for telework.
- Position will close in 5 business days or 75 applications (whichever comes first).
- This is a Key position. Incumbents must be removed from their military recall status if alternatives for filling the position during an emergency are not available
- May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.
- A professional STEM degree at the bachelor's level from an ABET accredited institution is highly desired
- Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 15 days per year.
- Work occasionally requires travel away from the normal duty station.
