Axient is searching for candidates for a Full-Time Launch Site Lead to support new entrant certification of the Vulcan and New Glenn Launch vehicle ground systems as well as provide functional leadership to Axient employees in the location. Candidate will support and sit directly on VSFB, CA. The position remotely supports the USSF Space Systems Command Assured Access to Space (SSC/AATS) Enterprise at Los Angeles Air Force Base, CA.

What you will do...

DUTIES & DESCRIPTION:
  • Lead the systems engineering analysis and reporting of launch site design, development, construction, and launch operations for certification of New Entrant ground systems
  • Works hand in hand with the Space Force customer and New Entrant Launch providers to certify critical launch system infrastructure for Department of Defense spacecraft launches.
  • Leads team of Launch Site Systems Engineers, System Safety Engineers, and Environmental Engineers to identify potential schedule and mission risk.
  • Provides the Space Force customer detailed technical reports to assess design reviews and system testing on launch systems critical ground support equipment.
  • Responsible for reporting launch site and launch operations certification results to senior PMs and customer representatives
  • Manage team interfaces with the USSF government customer(s), FFRDC, and Launch Service Providers.
  • Participate in major reviews for the launch systems and their associated ground support equipment and facilities
  • Participate in major reviews for Mission Assurance for the program
  • Provide functional leadership to Axient employees on other contracts on VSFB, CA.
  • Other duties as directed


Skills you will need...

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree plus 8 years leadership/management experience required or MA/MS/MBA plus 6 years of leadership/management experience required.
  • Relevant work experience in the military or industry will be considered in lieu of degree requirements.
  • Experience Managing teams and/or personnel is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in launch site design, testing, manufacturing, and operations.
  • Knowledge of USSF SSC and industry launch site standards.
  • Experience interfacing with computer-based database and schedule tools
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to present information in virtual and in-person environments.
  • Experience with MS Office tools such as Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint as well as Adobe Acrobat is required. Experience with JIRA/Confluence is a plus.
  • Some CONUS travel required

CLEARANCE: Must be able to obtain or have an active and transferrable DoD security clearance with current investigation at the Secret level. Must be able to maintain the required clearance.
