The Opportunity:
We're looking for skilled researchers to help drive advancements in Formal Reasoning, Computational Intelligence, and Probabilistic Reasoning for the Department of Defense. Our clients are pursuing revolutionary advancements in applications of automated reasoning te chn iques well bey ond the state-of-the-art. The ideal candidate will not only have te chn ical experience in one or more of these areas, but will also have experience managing the execution of te chn ical projects and programs.
As part of our team, you'll serve as a strategic te chn ical consultant to program managers at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency ( DARPA ) , helping to oversee the creation and execution of advanced government-funded research and development programs in automated reasoning applications. You'll work with world-class scientists and engineers to identify program goals and metrics that will enable mission success. You will maintain responsibility for producing and presenting findings and recommendations to a team of colleagues and clients on the feasibility and potential impact of future research programs, assisting with the management of current programs, and facilitating the transition of program deliverables to DoD stakeholders. This position is located in Arlington, VA.

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $75,600.00 to $172,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees. You Have:
- 2+ years of experience in research and development of machine learning or automated deduction tools
- Experience with database management, knowledge graphs, or ontologies
- Experience authoring, editing, and proofreading te chn ical papers, presentations, reports, or program plans for te chn ical and non-te chn ical audiences
- Experience meeting target milestones, timelines, and budget s for projects or programs
- Knowledge of probability and statistics
- Ability to work on tasks quickly, independently, and collaboratively in a team atmosphere
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
- Secret clearance
- Master's degree in a Science, Te chn ology, Engineering, or Mathematics field
Nice If You Have:
- Experience in probabilistic reasoning
- Experience with natural language processing, deontics, neuro-symbolic artifi cia l intelligence ( AI ) , or AI planning and causal reasoning
- Experience with knowledge representation and reasoning and logic programs such as Prolog or its extensions, including RuleLog or Answer Set Programming
- Experience developing AI use-case scenarios
- Experience performing or supporting government-sponsored research activities
- Experience managing programs or projects across various stages of their lifecycle
- Possession of excellent attention to detail
- Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Top Secret clearance
- Doctorate degree
