Senior IT Systems Solution Architect – Metadata Management / Data Quality

Location: Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, AL

Salary: $125,000 - $130,000

Job Description: The Senior IT Systems Solution Architect participates in the design, creation, and maintenance of computerized databases. Responsible for the quality control and auditing of Telelogic System Architect databases to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data. Consults with and advises users on access, works directly with users to resolve data conflicts and inappropriate data usage, and directs the maintenance and use of the enterprise architecture encyclopedia. Consults with System Architect programming personnel to resolve system performance issues. Responsible for the installation, maintenance, configuration, and integrity of System Architect. Implements application enhancements that will improve the reliability and performance of the application. Works with network engineers to schedule installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures. Responsible for file maintenance, control, and product support and facilitates change control, problem management, and communication among architects, engineers, and analysts. Establishes and enforces processes to ensure a consistent, well-managed, and well-integrated application infrastructure. Develops appropriate application and process documentation. Has a deep understanding of Business Transformation Agency (BTA) business transformation and enterprise architecture’s role in it, the BTA organizational structure, and experience in coordinating delivery and publishing of the Business Enterprise Architecture. A Senior IT Systems Solution Architect must demonstrate the following:

A Senior IT Systems Solution Architect may be called upon to partner with Business Analysts, and/or with customer functional managers when assembling requirements. The candidate should have a working knowledge of the Army's data and legacy systems, its associated systems, and understand the Army's concept of Enterprise Data Management and Authoritative processes. The ERP BA III will assist in logistics support activities centered on data quality support and enterprise data management relative to the Army’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, specifically GCSS-Army, LMP, GFEBS, and AESIP. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

General Responsibilities:
• Define the technical solutions to support identified metrics, as well as monitor ERP data quality and availability using metrics and audits.
• Enforce the business processes implemented for the organization’s enterprise data management and data integration.
• Perform technical analysis by assessing the areas of impact of data issues from all levels of the enterprise.
• Maintain and sustain migration efforts and management of future migration requirements.
• Utilize qualitative and quantitative techniques in analyzing and measuring the effectiveness and efficiency of the data that will be used in support of business processes.
• Collect requirements for the project business, analyzing them and guiding the developmental team to optimize their work.
• Evaluate the data collected by project development teams and preparing hardware and software requirement specifications understanding these details.
• Document the projects by preparing functional specification documents and user guides for the reference of the end users.

Specific Responsibilities:
• Collecting, categorizing, maintaining, integrating, controlling, managing, and delivering metadata.
• Assess the quality of Metadata documentation through both automated and manual methods.
• Provide data/information to a single point of reference or repository for alignment of Army Business Processes, Business Terms/Vocabulary, and Technical Assets across the Army Logistics enterprise.
• Establish, manage, and maintain internal business processes for governing the identification, collection, and use of organization metadata for the Logistics Domain.
• Document and implement appropriate backup and recovery mechanisms to guarantee the recoverability of metadata in any circumstances.
• Identify and document requirements necessary to extend the metadata management tools for use by other stakeholders.
• Identify, develop, and provide training and documentation in support of metadata policies, procedures and tools.
• Documenting, assessing, and influencing business requirements to develop, enable, and advance metadata capabilities to support the organization’s mission.
• Control and manage datasets in the Army’s metadata repository.
• Monitor and manage authoritative datasets within government approved metadata repository to ensure quality requirements for mission objectives are maintained.
• Support the team in managing customer expectations and resolving issues on time.
• Perform business and technical presentations in relation to metadata and solutions addressing business problems.

Technology:
• Maintain skill sets in the hardware/software (Vantage, Collibra, Advana, etc.) being used to accomplish customer tasks.
• Utilize data analysis tools to include SQL, Microsoft Access, and Excel to query data from multiple complex relational databases and other data sources in support of customer data requests.
• Exhibit a wide range of technical knowledge including database, application development, project management, scheduling, etc.
• Maintain an awareness of trends that may either positively or negatively affect the customer.

Required Experience:
• Army logistics background.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills to perform stakeholder management, resolution management, and facilitate Working Groups and IPTs.
• An understanding and awareness of GCSS-Army/LMP/AESIP/GFEBS interfaces and dependencies.
• Knowledge and understanding of the Logistics Domain transformation to the ERP-dominated environment.
• Ability to articulate objectives of enterprise data quality management.

Required Education/Experience:
• 12 years of Business Analyst experience, OR
• Master’s degree and 6 years of Business Analyst experience, OR
• Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of Business Analyst experience, OR
• Associate’s degree and 10 years Business Analyst experience, OR
