ManTech is seeking a skilled, professional and service-oriented Environmental Science and Protection Technician III to join our vehicle sustainment team. The selected candidate will provide maintenance and logistics support to multiple families of vehicles globally on the Agriculture Cleaning and African Swine Fever Sanitization (ACAS) program.

The Environmental Science and Protection Technician III performs inspections and tests to identify, abate, or eliminate pollutants or hazards affecting the environment or public health. This role involves developing, administering, and overseeing site environmental, safety, and occupational health programs. They design and implements procedures to ensure employee and community safety and regulatory compliance. This position requires expanded knowledge and experience in environmental science and protection, with incumbents still acquiring higher-level skills. The Environmental Science and Protection Technician III report to both the Environmental Science and Protection Manager III for policy and regulatory compliance and the Logistics Manager for ACC Environmental Services/HAZMAT capabilities. They work closely with HAZMAT Specialist IIs.

*Important Note* : Selected candidates without an ACTIVE German/E.U. Work Visa will be required to work the first 60 days in a Temporary role while obtaining their VisaOnce an E.U. Work Visa is approved, then you will be offered a Full-Time German Contract . If accepted, then you will be subjected to paying German taxes, obtaining German Healthcare, and working within the guidelines of the German labor system.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Conduct research or perform investigation for the purpose of identifying, abating, or eliminating sources of pollutants or hazards that affect either the environment or public health.
  • Using knowledge of various scientific disciplines, may collect, synthesize, study, report, and recommend action based on data derived from measurements or observations of air, food, soil, water, and other sources. Excludes "Zoologists and Wildlife Biologists" (19-1023), "Conservation Scientists" (19-1031), "Forest and Conservation Technicians" (19-4071), "Occupational Health and Safety Specialists" (19-5011), "Fish and Game Wardens" (33-3031), and "Forest and Conservation Workers" (45-4011)
  • Possesses and applies expertise on multiple complex work assignments.
  • Assignments may be broad in nature, requiring originality and innovation in determining how to accomplish tasks. Operates with appreciable latitude in developing methodology and presenting solutions to problems. Contributes to deliverables and performance metrics where applicable.
  • They build knowledge of company processes and customers, solves straightforward problems, and analyzes solutions using standard procedures, receiving moderate guidance and direction. They obtain necessary licenses, permits, and authorizations for waste management in compliance with host nation laws.
  • They support the Regulatory Support Team (RST) in maintaining compliance with all relevant laws and regulations for handling, storage, spill cleanup, and disposal of regulated wastes and HAZMAT.
  • They also assist in creating and maintaining Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) as per ANSI Z400.1 standards.
  • They oversee the handling, storage, and transportation of hazardous and non-hazardous waste generated by ACAS operations, prepares regulated waste for disposal, and maintains an internal tracking system.
  • They ensure RST personnel are certified and trained according to OSHA, EPA, U.S. Army Public Health Command, and local regulations.
  • Additionally, they support the program in accounting for expenses related to regulated waste management, including noncompliance penalties and other costs.
  • They proactively support the ACAS Safety Plan.


Required Qualifications :
  • BA/BS degree (Permitted experience exchange: High School and 6 years of additional experience or Associate's Degree and 4 years of additional experience may be exchanged in lieu of a required Bachelor's degree)
  • 9 years of experience (Permitted education exchange: A candidate holding a relevant Master's degree may be granted 2 years' experience credit for that extra education. A candidate holding a relevant PhD degree may be granted 4 years' experience credit for that extra education.) 4 years of work experience (Permitted education exchange: A candidate holding a relevant Master's degree may be granted 2 years' experience credit for that extra education. A candidate holding a relevant PhD degree may be granted 4 years' experience credit for that extra education.)
  • Five (5) years of position specific relevant experience.
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple locations. Solid project management capabilities with the ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously from origin through execution.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related field.
  • HAZWOPER, RCRA, DOT, OSHA training certificates.
  • Certifications / training / familiarity associated with ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems and ISO 14064:2018 Quantification and Reporting of Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Removals, and ADR. Battalion/Brigade-level HAZMAT
  • Program lead as a part of a military unit.
  • Experience with leading a HAZMAT Program at a business or on a contract program similar to ACAS.
  • Training and experience with HAZMAT associated with cleaning and disinfecting heavy equipment and other agricultural items.


Clearance Requirements:
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.


Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to balance, bend, carry, crouch, stretch and kneel.
  • Must be able to push, pull, and reach.
  • Must be able to work with computers and CRTs, and type on a computer keyboard for long periods of time.
