About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Application Engineer to join our DevOps team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining containerized applications and infrastructure while driving continuous delivery practices across our organization.

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Application Engineer to join our DevOps team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining containerized applications and infrastructure while driving continuous delivery practices across our organization.
There are a few requirements for the position:
- Must be a U.S Citizen - Authorized to Work in the US - Must be able to obtain a Active Clearance (Green Cards / Visas do not qualify)
- Willingness to undergo a comprehensive background investigation and maintain a personal security clearance. (Aquila would sponsor you for the security clearance.)
- Must be within commutable distance of Lexington, Massachusetts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement container-based solutions using Docker and Podman, ensuring optimal performance, security, and scalability
- Manage and optimize Kubernetes clusters across multiple environments, including configuration, deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, automating build, test, and deployment processes
- Collaborate with development teams to containerize applications and establish best practices for container orchestration
- Implement infrastructure as code practices and maintain configuration management
- Monitor system performance and implement improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior team members
- Participate in on-call rotation and incident response
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with container technologies (Docker, Podman)
- 3+ years of experience with Kubernetes administration and deployment
- Strong experience with GitLab CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python, Bash, etc.)
- Experience with version control systems (Git) and branching strategies
- Strong understanding of Linux/Unix systems and networking concepts
- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Knowledge of security best practices for containerized environments
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana)
- Experience with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, Ansible)
- Relevant certifications (CKA, CKAD, AWS, etc.)
- Experience with microservices architecture
